protect our angling venues

Hi,

New to this forum thingy.

Those of you who visit worldseafishing forums, especially in scotland may have read the thread regarding the Ardrossan Fishing ban.

In short this is about a pier in the west of Scotland which has been a popular venue for many years frequented by generations of Anglers who learned to fish there and consequently taught the younger members of their families to fish from there also. It has been popular because of its easy access to Able Bodied and Disabled Anglers alike and the safety of the venue, unfortunately it has recently been closed to the angling community due to a minority (very small ie 1%) of 'neds acting irresponsibly', This may or may not have anything to do with the current LA plans for upgrading the area with buildings and facilities for the more fortunate of us who keep a boat and live by the Marina, however, it is the general opinion of the Responsible Angling Community that they are being penalised for the actions of a few idiots who use the harbour for 'mackie bashing' approximately 6/52 of the year, This is a situation that could arise anywhere along the british coastline, there is an online petition and I am sure any support would be welcome, to the stand they are making for a safe area to be reinstated to them.

its always the minority that spoil things just as its always a minority that object to things and get them changed usually for the worse

Yes unfortunately it does happen all the time for various reasons, I am still busy fighting my corner on Cefyn Sidan Beach trying to regain access.

Banning feathers from piers would go a long way to losing the numpties and make piers a lot safer you can still catch a feed of mackies with a meps, or a float fished bait and its more fun.
