The trouble is it doesn't matter what MPs think now, it will only take a few loud MPs, of the types Tony Banks was a big cash donation and angling will be in the sights. At present you have very disgruntled anti fox hunters who have seen their bill fail in practice and are becoming far more violent as a consequence. As night follows day they will spread their net. Shooting was supposed to be safe but is now beginning to suffer a full frontal attack, our fishing will be soon.

 

They will try to divide and conquer. Pick on match fisherman, maybe stocked trout fisheries, light line fisherman perhaps? Every aspect of our sport can be attacked and portrayed in a bad light if you wish to bend the truth. The truth is any sport that envolves a fish or animal or bird has an element of cruelty and will be on their agendas to ban. There are plenty that think even pet ownership is wrong!

 

We need to learn from the hunting debacle of how we need to defend our sport, or we may soon be fishing for plastic fishes or bags. My dogs despite having been bred for centuries to hunt hares are now relagated to hunting plastic bags on a line, don't let our fishing go the same way :schmoll:

Personally?? I think Sam has a VERY valid point myself!!!

 

It is actually called "His opinion" and I don't expect everyone to respect his opinion!

 

Think how bloody boring it would be if they did???

 

But THAT is what it is!!.........................AN OPINION!!!!

 

(As is Andies!! I don't agree with Andy myself!! But am I slagging him for that??)

Please remember that for gods sake!!

 

Why does everyone get so annoyed because ONE person has a different idea than you???

 

Can you not state your OWN opinion without it falling into a personal slanging match?? :wallbash:

 

As I recall the post was to bring to our attention an article for reading??? Why not respond the THAT article??

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

Chris, I agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and most opinions are valid but, the issue I have is when Sam is such a conservationalist why state that he hopes a fish feels pain to be able to get a better fight from it. I do not wish pain on any animal jsut for a bigger/better thrill, my opinion.
