Hi Darnsarf!! Will leave the write-up to dingle he caught the only things worth writing about ha ha  but will say that it was a fantastic day at St Bees Cumbria. the weather was great really considering that the f/cast was different at each place you looked at it!. I was just spinning over rocky ground, and I mean rocky!!, it was a great experience for me seeing the heads that close (have been before but not close in) and I can see that being a fabulous spot when the weather settles.

I was too intrigued by the scenery and my ambition to try out my spinnig rod and constantly kayak up and down, to get into really serious fishing mode, and I had a time constraint by the FPO but Dingle caught a few, including a decent Pollock!!. We paddled out to the headland (St Bees heads) but I managed to cover 5 miles according to my gps going up and down exploring the place ha ha. I enjoyed it immensely :):)

More to come :):):)

You want webbing for slings - don't buy it! I got mine from a scrap yard - seat belt webbing. I just asked and they don't sell them - help yourself i was told. So i did, with a sharp knife. Got enough to make about 10 self standing kayak rests - I'll do a picture session when I have actually done the carpentry bit.

SDD Just read the write up sounds a great trip. You get the same buzz as i do when fishing the Purbecks. SUre I could catch more if I took my eyes off the cliffs and the wildlife B):P

Fished since 2003, the rest of my life I just wasted.

Ha ha true mate, I think Dingle noticed the big grin I had from ear to ear, I was gutted to have to go in at high tide but had duties from the FPO!!.

Very few Puffins on the heads :schmoll: , mainly razorbills, kittiwakes, fulmars, guillemots, and the only black guillemots breeding in England. Plenty of Pollock mind ;)

What colour feathers do the pollack have on your cliffs?

They are bright golden around Plymouth and deep red on Skye.

Black Guillemots - there's a rae one. Sister has them breeding on the cliffs by her - N. Skye - and there are some in Bangor marina (Norn Iren) nesting in pipes put there for them. The little bird is the symbol of the marina. Saw some in Loch Aline too - and Black Throated Divers - a first for me and Specimen. We spent a happy hour watching them.

Hey Coasters,

If your anywhere near st bees and fancy a trip out give us a shout the more the merrier...you never know there might be more of us up here than down south soon!!

Thanks Dingle I may well take you up on that when I'm a bit more at home with the new yak. Never fished on anything so small before. Leyland isn't too far away so I'll keep your offer in mind. :)
