Ferg there has been matchs won with over 40lb of them! God knows how many that is!

 

Despite what some may say there is a real skill in bagging up with that many individual fish.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I remember reading an article by Ivan Marks (shows how many years ago) about bleak fishing. He was saying he didn't even wait for a bite, just count to three and lift them in, then shake them off into the net, some people even used an upturned brolly instead of a keepnet! I don't suppose many people could be bothered in these carp ridden days, one six pound carp must be a thousand bleak!

Another useless Bleak fact- In France they net them commercially for the resteraunt trade! They fry them then eat them whole (guts,bones and all!) the same as whitebait! :yucky:

 

And people try to tell me that French cuisene is topps!

I think I remember reading that French anglers will fry up any small fish they catch in this way, mixing them all together (roach, gudgeon and bleak being the usual species) to make a dish they call "La friture". Bigger fish are invariably returned as breeding stock to provide future generations of "whitebait".

 

I expect Corydoras will tell us how nice it is. :)
