People should go to prison for that kind of offence. This should not be an EA investigation, it should be a criminal investigation by the police & EA together.

Civil cases by the ACA are a fine thing Peter; my own local club is currently pursuing a polluter through them, and will hopefully be compensated. I'd like to see deliberate or negligent pollution cases treated as serious criminal offences, however, and pursued by the police under criminal law. Where there is recklessness or intent, I think custodial sentences would be appropriate.

The upper reaches of the river are a game fishery. It's very shallow. Any coarse fish that make it up that far probably get eaten by the cormorants!
