Feeds for feeder fishing

Okay. I've got my new feeder quivertip rod with all the bits n bobs to start feeder fishing. I'm hoping to try out the method at Chorlton Water Park where carp of around the 20lb and tench around the 5lb mark have been taken.

However, I have no idea what bait to use to catch carp and tench. I was wondering if someone could recommend what bait to use to catch these guys? Thanks.

PS According to an angler who fishes at Chorlton Water Park frequently, there are no weeds in the lake. It just has a silt bottom. I have absolutely no idea how deep it is beyond the 10 yard mark. (Depth at around 10 yards is 3.5 feet).

there are a whole host of different baits that you could use, but some that i would recommend are: corn, small (3-4mm) pellets, chopped worm, hemp, casters, maggots.

Probably a good start would be to sandwich a few grains of corn, a few small pellets, some chopped worm and some hemp between two plugs of groundbait (maybe Dynamite Baits Marine pellet ground bait). What tench/ carp in that lake could refuse?

Good luck!

Wouldn't recommend maggots on a silty bottom, they'll just wriggle into it. I definitely would recommend dead ones though, plenty of them, and for some reason, always done well with corn in silty water (easily seen in the murky depths?) Redworm, fished on a long tail, tipped with corn, and any fairly active groundbait mix. The old favourite, Expo, ought to get you your fair share of bites.

Thanks guys. I'll definitely try those combos out.

Ducktape, since the bottom is silty, I'll probably use some casters as I've been told they're pretty good for catching tench.
