Vagabond - you can DIY the italics by putting

[i] at the beginning and [/i] at the end.

 

Doing that gives you italicized text where ever you want it.

The technical term for them is Tags.

[i] and [/i] gives italics[b] and [/b] gives bold[u] and [/u] gives underlined[s] and [/s] gives 'struck through'

There are some others but those are the most useful ones.

 

If you want multiple effects, you can simply 'nest' them but you have to pay attention to the order of the tags.

[b][i]and some text[/i][/b] will work fine but[b][i]and some text[/b][/i] will not
