I suspect that you may all be fed up with, "what camera should I buy ?" posts, but I would appreciate an opinion on this one.

 

I do not take "self take" photographs.

 

My main concern/question is about the zoom facility.

 

A lot of the pictures I want to take, I can not get close enough to take a "real" picture, so I need a reasonable zoom that fills the view finder, as opposed to the little square in the middle of the LCD screen (which I have trouble in seeing and centering the subject).

 

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks Den, I did have a quick look at that thread and went back a few pages on this section, to see what other reviews there were.

 

I tried to make my question very specific, as a lot of the replies on the other threads wander off into areas I don't understand (what the heck is RAW and conversions ?) and don't need to understand.

 

No problem, I will have to get myself off to a camera shop and have a look. :thumbs:

The Canon Powshot A700 has a reasonable optical zoom on it,check out the spec.It is also user friendly and you can use it it in manual mode if required.For about £200 it is worth concidering :sun:

 

It has the advantage of a massive screen and also a viewfinder
