My first trip out of the house proper since my bout of Labyrinthitis and I had a ride on the Metro up to Newcastle. I went to Jessops with the intention of buying a filter holder for my Cannon Powershot A700 and two filters,a ND 3 stop and an ND grad 2 stop.

The lad behind the counter said there was not a compatible filter holder on the market to fit my camera. There used to be but it had been discontinued. Anyone out there know any different to this???

Question would it be practical to hold a filter against the camera face whilst shooting. The camera

would be on a tripod for this anyway??

Actually own a polarising filter so tried holding it by hand earlier with this result

Can you spot the filter??:rolleyes:

Any feed back would be appreciated. All I wanted was to try and vary/improve my landscapes/waterscapes

ps on the positive side I only had the one dizzy spell and that was on an escalator

Cheers Nick had a quick look  I will only be using filters so is it the 58mm adaptor tube I need to buy and then buy the 2 filters I want. I take it they will have to be circular Canon ones that will just push onto the adaptor tube?

Peggy recently bought a kit consising of a mini tripod, an adaptor, lens hood and polarising, UV and diffuser filters on eBay for her Canon A80. The adaptor has a bayonet fitting onto the camera and a screw thread for the filters. She's very pleased with the package. It cost $34.95 + $11.50 postage and insurance.

Cheers Nick, even more confused now. Do not think that adaptor is for holding filters it seems like a an adaptor to hold lenses. :headhurt:

The one I posted is for filters, there are others similar.

I have one myself but buggered if I can find it to show you. :(
