  1. When I was looking at getting some made to measure breathables some kind soul pointed out that if you need to be wearing waders then you're going to be standing in water up to your waist and in the UK that is generally going to keep you cool enough. I took their advice saved myself over £300 and haven't once regretted the decision. Bought some from fishingwaders.Co.UK for about £90 and they've been brilliant.
  2. The only ones I know of are http://www.andrewtoft-flyfishingequipment.co.uk/products/field-and-fish-5-layer-made-to-measure-waders Not cheap at nearly £400. Do you really need breathable?
  3. seen quite a few reports of nectar toolbar causing crashes with firefox
  4. also some good advice here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/958435#answer-433537
  5. do have have any add-ons installed? If you do try running it with all add-ons disabled (there's an option to do so on the help menu) see if that resolves the issue. If it does then restart add-ons one by one to see what is causing the issue.
  6. adblock plus works just fine with 26, I never go anywhere without it!
  7. I should have even more problems as I am using nightly (a 64bit development build) which updates as you may guess, nightly. Had one issue with one add-on about 18 months back. Currently on 26.0a1 (2013-08-15) and just realised I was hopelessly out of date now 26.0a1 (2013-09-09)
  8. Was a quick overnight stop with the family on the way down south for a holiday, hardly had time for a meal far less socializing, but I may well be passing that way again before Christmas by myself in which case I'll give you a shout.
  9. I stayed at that Premier Inn a few weeks back and have to say it certainly looks like a nice water. As you said the bank near the car park was fairly crowded, but a short walk and there was no one to be seen.
  10. Can't swear to it but I believe it's 10 posts before you can PM...
  11. Chesters, I take it that at some point in the past the system worked ok? If so is it worth using system restore to get back to that point in time and then going from there? Instructions here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/system-restore-from-windows-8-recovery-environment/
  12. I'm sorry to hear that Peggy, hope he is feeling better soon.
  13. Quite an interesting viewpoint on static html, none CMS sites, fairly well reflects my thinking: http://ryanhayes.net/blog/why-you-should-build-your-website-using-static-html-files/ And most of the benefits can be obtained utilising a database to store the info and then using php to generate new (static) pages anytime data changes - and if anything needs to be truly dynamic (perhaps exchange rates) that is easy to include too...
  14. but they were locked up years ago...
  15. and I got the numbers wrong, it's the fifth in 4 years, the second which involves fatalities.
  16. and yet again it is the gearbox under suspicion, third major incident involving the gearbox on a super puma in the past few years, surely this has got to lead to loss of their certification and permanent grounding
  17. done so, same opinion. On what do you base your conjecture?
  18. Phone, no "point" simply stating a matter of fact. Philocalist - I was specifically referring to the use of a bow. In the UK using a bow to shoot any living creature is illegal. As to scottish keepers (and those closer to your neck of the woods) shooting pike, I have to admit I don't know the legal position on that, I know I deplore it, and other means of rendering river systems pretty sterile for the sake of lord salmon, but as long as the authorities turn a blind eye to that and other such actions even when reported I guess it's going to continue.
  19. and totally illegal in the UK :-)
  20. No Scots sensitivities here, I'm English :-) But I do appreciate accuracy, and I believe what we are talking about is canoe access :-)
  21. Please do not confuse matters still further by making sweeping statements about the UK when you actually mean England. In Scotland there is a general right of access to the land. full details http://www.outdooraccess-scotland.com/outdoors-responsibly/your-access-rights/
  22. But Andy, Steve's needs are relatively straight forward, by writing custom code it can be kept simple, lightweight and avoid many of the vulnerabilities associated with off the shelf systems. The very fact of the amount of extra code available is one of the reasons that it is overkill for what Steve needs. Yes, there is no such thing as a totally secure system, however the more widespread the use of a particular system is the more attacks may be made against the system. It is rather analogous to the situation with viruses when they were a massive problem. Nearly every virus targeted windows OS's simply because there were many more people using them than any MAC, 'nix or other OS. Well written custom code is very portable, and most certainly does not have to be tied to the developers hosting - many of the best developers do not offer hosting! And no, of course I don't think you would make any suggestion that you believed to be insecure, or have other problems. Just offering my thoughts.
  23. How long is a piece of string - Your needs are relatively straight forward, but all developers will have different views as to how to approach the task and what the exact needs are. You do not necessarily get a better product by paying more, just different. Any decent development company should do just that - if not walk away. Definitely It's not rocket science despite what some say, again decent development companies should be able to assist with that, and there is much you can do yourself (non-technical stuff) Yes, and I tend to think it is better to have seperate developersand hosts. A properly developed site should be very easy to maintain and tweak, and should also be straight forward for someone else to work on if required. I would advise not going down the route of an off the shelf CMS as advised by (I think) Andy as the security exploits for those are generally well known and makes life far easier for anyone with malicious intent. I will have a good think about your best approach Steve and see if I can give you a better steer.
  24. Sorry to disappoint you Jim, but even with such a sign you would still owe the same duty of care to trespassers :-)
  25. better average than me then phone, and I believe I wrote 2 of them :-)
