Predatory Barbel?

Tigger - I don't think anyone is saying that a carp is a pike, but simply saying that they are predatory, as in they will seek out dead fish on the bottom and also chase and eat live fish when given the opportunity...which they have in abundance in the wild. Carp, like us, being an omnivorous species, will simply eat just about anything most of the time...even live worms... ;):fish:

I agree GLOBE.

The carp in the tank looked like fit 'wild' fish, not the bloated, boily bellied ones that seem to be becoming the norm on some waters. If the fish in our waters weren't fed the diet that they are, I feel that more would be caught on lures and small fish.

I asked jerry about course fishing with lures, after seeing bream caught that way, in his reports from Holland. It seems it's not uncommon at all.

As I said in an earlier post, I have caught roach on minnow, but on my next roach session, I will still be using more conventional methods. :D

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John
