There's a lot of crap in the Manchester Ship Canal.

I used to run down the canal around work - Oxford Road to Old Trafford. I used to see enough carp basking on a sunny day for you to have a go. You would have needed to bait up as I guess they would be fairly nomadic.

 

However, the canal emptied last year and I know a lot of fish were lost from the area (don't see as many and saw quite a few dead)
