Fishing Thailand

Hi all.

No I havent decided that the English summer is so bad that I'm off to the tropics again - but I am doing a bit of research into next years trip.

I've looked at the fishing in Thailand and plan of paying a visit next winter. Just looking bought back memories of having been busted up on eight consecutive casts on a previous visit when I was armed only with a light spinning rod baited with chicken.

My look arround the web brings up the inevitable references to Bung Sam Lan lake which is expensive to the point of being obsene. There appear to be lots of other lakes but a high proportion appear to be muddy holes that have been dug and stocked to try to cash in on Mr Helias's bright idea.

My question is simple. Does anyone have any experience of other lakes in Thailand that are productive, pleasant to fish and reasonably priced ? All recomendations greatfully recieved !
