Bass fishing

Recommended Posts

I have been plug fishing and spinning at Constantine and Booby's Bay on the North Cornish coast for bass but without much luck. I have used a mixture of plugs/spinners - mostly Rapala J13 (blue) and toby's and tried a variety of locations from the west end of Constantine all the way round to the East end of booby's towards Trevose Head, fishing mostly off the rocks rather than the sandy beaches.

I am now getting frustrated by a lack of fish and a lack of confidence. Does anyone have any advice they can offer for plug fishing the area - precise locations to fish, state of tide, speed of retrieve, plug selection - any tips much needed and gratefully received

I don't live in that area so tide wise can't advise, bass move along an area of coast line with tidal movements on deeper rock marks, some fish well on the ebb others on the flood, some two hrs down and two hrs up from low water, beaches fish well up here on the flood tide in the evening for spinning. You just have to keep varying speed of retrieve. As for what plugs/ spinners it can vary on one mark day to day. When I first started spinning up here everyone swore by a red condom, never did get one on them, the first bass I caught up here spinning was on a small Mepps Comet Spinner silver with blue spots.

You just have to keep trying, the last week we were trying to pick up a few launce on micro feathers, the lad next to me thought he had a full house plus  turned out to be to schoolies about a pound a piece.

Snatcher does a good line in bass fly lures, I tied a few for myself and they work well.

You just have to keep trying tell you find what works on the day.

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM

The best thing to do is contact Ed the bass in Padstow, the Drang where he has a shop. Ed is an expert bass fisherman and knows all the local spots. By the way the Rapala J13 is prob the best plug you can use

I fish Trevose in my boat regular and havent had any bass this year! A lack of Launce is the reason for no catches

Hope this helps

Regards

Is there a particular problem with the launce down the west, this monday our skipper at weymouth put a net over and got enough to last his boat for a week. Early on this year we have also caught our own at the top end of the channel.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..
