It's going to be so frustrating......

The system includes a waterproof video camera (shaped like a fish so as not to scare the residents, natch)

Can anyone else see the potential pike'y problem with this? I can see it now, patiently waiting for that bite when suddenly the cable starts moving off into the depths. :D

Has anyone actually seen anybody using one?

Not yet but if I can source the one from that link, I'll send you a photo of me using it.

Decent rigs have been running in the $500+ range which has so far put me off buying one. $99 and I'm on it like a flash.

Nice find. I dunno why but I could not locate the thing when I tried.

This sounds like a daft question but how would you use it?

It comes with 60m of cable, is there some way of casting it this far as I doubt that most people would be able to throw it that far? Even if you could, how would you make sure that it is facing the way that you want to see? And how far would you be able to see with the camera anyway?

I guess that I can perhaps see an advantage if you have a boat and wanted to explore "fishy" looking holes but apart from that I don't see it being much use.

Or am I just cynical about new fishing gadgets?

I think it is pretty much a boat item and at the lower end of the price range, fairly clear water.

OTOH, I fish mostly from a boat and unless we've had lots of rain, the water is pretty clear.
