How fast flowing is the river? Most importantly, how deep is it?

This will make a considerable difference to which lures will work well.

Edit note: do you wan't recommendations for just spinners, or lures in general?

Given that those photo's will have been taken in early May, I take it that the river is usually lower and clearer than that.

You've not given a price range for your kit but almost any 5 - 20g spinning rod will do you. Couple this with a small 1000 size front drag fixed spool reel 10lb Fireline and a light trace and you're in business.

As to lures, keep it simple and start off with a handfull of size 1 and 2Mepps Angilla spinners in silver. If you have deep holes with overhanging trees, a selection of small crankbaits and shallow running minows (floating) will expand your options.

I reckon some floating crankbaits/minnows should work well in there as you can 'rip' then down under the surface and bump them off the bottom.

I've had Chub take a Big S plug recently which is quite a fat bodied, boyant lure that wobbles loads just under the surface.
