The bit I just do not understand is how the new body can be "independent" and then claim that one of it's constituent bodies is a part of the SFSA. How can part of the SFSA leave the SFSA and create a new body?

What happens to the SFSA commitment to conservation - is that thrown out of the window?

I'm sorry Ian, but I just cannot see how this works at all.

It's not a matter of 'parts' of organisations, it's about individuals who were working within a number of sea angling conservation bodies getting together as a new organisation, independent of those we came from.

As separate organisations we feel we achieved quite some success in raising the profile of Scottish RSA as an important marine 'stakeholder', especially as it was a stated objective of the last Fisheries Minister that he wanted want to restrict input to fisheries management and policy making solely to commercial interests. The current Minister is still evaluating his options.

We made conservation related contributions to several meetings such as the SNH Marine Bio-Diversity Workshop, SIFAG, Holyrood sub-committees, sat on the Ministerial level committee AGMACS, as well as providing conservation input and help to several local coastal groups such as SolwayFish, The Clyde Forum etc and a whole load of other stuff.

All this was achieved through purely voluntary effort.

So why did we create SSACN ? Well, as we all are totally committed to actually doing something to try and safeguard the marine environment and sea angling, we recognised that our end goals were pretty consistent and we were wasting a lot of effort and bandwidth tippy toeing around each other. So to make the maximum impact, we needed to work much closer together.

Many have recognised this as a sensible move, including some MEPs & MSPs, members of SEERAD, several NGOs and many other angling conservation organisations.

Most importantly to us though are the anglers who have mailed their support and/or signed up for membership and/or donated funds to help us.

Right now we have a steering committee looking at direction, funding initiatives, priorities etc. This will be meeting on the 30th of this month email contactATDONTWANTSPAMssacn.org ( hope it's obvious what to drop from the address) by the 22nd if you would like to attend.

That is a no brainer, sounds like the first guy was wrong for the job. No doubt Scotland is the same as the rest of the uk, most will appreciate the value the rsa put into the economy. More though, there must be a value with regards to the conservation ideas put forward by you guys. What else does the minister need to consider.

Boy am i thick, he must be considering if he is the right man for the job.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Apologies, it was late and I got my dates confused, it's not the 30th it's the 29th - anyone sending us an email by the 22nd will be sent the final details, directions etc.
