which fishfinder/transducer

I fitting a prowler elite 4.5 with a fishfinder I understand that only hummingbirds transducers fits the yak. I've heard some bad reports on hummers under £200, I wonder if you can mix different makes of fishfinders with the hummingbird transducer if so your opinons would be welcome.

I think you'll need to ring Johnsons and ask for Chris (I think) to answer that one. I would be surprised if you can fit a different make to the Humminbird Transducer.

Incidentally, you might want to check which transducer is best. The one that came with my 215 and 757 are both transom mount and needed sikaflexing in the hull - but the XTH 9 20 P is the plastic thru-hull transducer and ideal if you want to go through the scupper - I have it now on the Trident.

Wetter than an otter's pocket.

Its definately worth contacting JO to make sure you get the correct transducer for the job as i don't think the same transducer is used for the through the scupper mounts on the elite as is used on the trident and big game(I could be wrong though), and you can use the transducer boot designed to fit the elite to hold the transducer in place. Once fitted it works a treat and is nicely recessed so it doesn't get knocked around on landing.
