Andi - a delay of this length means that no one who has read the topic has any info to offer.

It could be that none of the members is familiar with the place or, more likely, the member(s) who are haven't been on the site.

Generally we answer quickly if we know an answer.

Brian - I can easily see how a new member, seeing all the responses to common and uncommon questions might wonder about the lack of one to their first attempt at a topic outside the Welcome section.

The place is a nightmare in the summer, especially anywhere near that campsite. There's about 18 inches of water maximum and it's like the M25 in the rush hour - only with canoes. It might be better in the middle of winter when it's in full flood.

Andi it will be just plain stupid to highlight a particular swim that in someones opinion is better than another, any way winter vs summer fishing is so different, barbel move and never stay in one place all the time. The Matt Hayes programme should give you some clues on location, but beware dont build your hopes up too much that you will guarantee to catch, the Severn has been hard going this season and even this stretch has suffered.

Suggest you look at barbel fishing world website and look at river reports section, this will give you a feel for whats happening both now and prior to your visit.

With the river relativly low at the moment (well, it is til tomorrows rain hits), I'd be inclined to try to target the big roah that are to be found in this part of the river, using float tactics.

The chub and barbel will inevitably move in at some point.
