Hello All,

Well what can I say, thanks to everyone who has every posted on this site. I have spent the last coupple of hours reading through some good posts. I am relatively new to course fishing and really need some help.

 

I spent the last 6-8 years sea fishing. Since I bought a house last year I have not had the time to go sea fishing (fishing gone quite poor anyway) and as a result I have restarted course fishing.

 

So my first questions are, does anyone who fishes the south wales area read these forums? I primary fish canals, and was wondering what I should be targeting this time of year, is it to early to target tench?

Hi Kelvin, I'm not in wales I'm afraid and I don't usually fish canals so not much use to you! As for tench, they are getting caught more and more in the 'winter' these days (although we are getting a proper winter this year, thank goodness) so worth a go. I'll be in the fens next weekend, and I'm going to have a rod out in the daytime for tench/bream, lots were being caught this time last year, worm was by far the best bait.

Hi Kelvin. What part of South Wales are you looking at?

Out here in the West, there is not a lot of canal or river fishing, but some good commercials.
