I've recently found one of those naff gold clown things on the street, with moveable arms and legs. It's minus it's head, but I'm sure it should have some scrap value. It's quite a decent weight, and hallmarked. I'm sure it must have looked wonderful when it was intact.... :yucky:

It's amazing the amount of gold earrings that are lost on our streets over the weekend! I wait until I have a small collection, then take them to my local jewellers, sell them as scrap and hand the proceeds over to charity. Some turn out not to be real gold, but last year I was able to donate £26.00.

at todays (or last years) prices £26 isnt charitable by the buyer!

weve found more gold not using a metal detector than using one

one years collection on holiday ,we have cracked the beaches secret ;)

,one could be roman

the better ones are in the mrs's possession :D the broken one has an impressive diamond in it but a victorian cut so pretty worthless today as bright cut diamonds are smaller for the same diameter (victorian ones are deeper thus more gold needs to be used in the setting to house them)

silver is worthless in any form about a fiver an ounce as scrap

:D Thanks for all your kind and generous offers. I've not actually received any gold yet so my retirement plans must be put on hold. I was sure it would work. :D
