Tiddler, assuming you use a seperate hooklink, then why not use the No knot knot? If you are simply tying your hook on the end of your mainline, then forget I spoke :)

I'm afraid it's the latter - fishing straight through from the hook length - but thanks anyway.

 

Are hook lengths popular with float fishermen using a trotting technique? Probably not with braid methinks but with other types of line?

If your using braid for trotting you might find attaching a mono bottom 12 / 18 inch attached via a micro swivel works well. I have a reel set up like that but I do still like to use mono straight through when trotting.

I don't like the grating sound of braid through the rings which you don't get with mono. Mono seems much smoother through the rings to me. I hit just as many bites with mono even at range as I do with braid.
