So Guys, how many of us have bought catapults where one has more maggots around your feet than in the water!!

Here's a modification with no cutting off (the elastic is hollow & all plastic inserts)

Just drill through as shown in the Pic' instead of the elastic looping through the top as supplied!!

Catty now fires perfect - All bait in the water, & NONE at one's feet!!

No Glue, or new parts, no cutting, just a drill & re assembly!!

Not a thing I use ,I have an old Milbro one in the box but I suspect the elastic will break it's so old.

Your bodging is what the close season used to be about making stuff that mostly led to disappointment the first time it was used (floats made of drinking straws that folded in half on the strike thanks Anglers Mail !) But my Heron bite indicator conversion to bleep tones was successful thanks to a GPO worker giving me a couple when they first appeared (trim tone phones I think?).

Back to catapults a regular down the pond used a single handed one with great success ,not much good for dispatching pheasents with half inch ballbearings but accurate enough with maggots and ground bait.
