Accurate 12, Twin Disc Lever Drag Reel

:cool: Hi all, got my Christmas pressie today, an Accurate 12, twin disc lever drag reel to do a review on. What a super bit of kit. All aircraft grade aluminium and stainless steel. Umpteen bearings and super strong gears. It's about the size of a TLD 15 but heavier and stronger. With the advent of the new braids we don't need the huge reels any more, we only needed them for the nylon or dacron capacity.

If reels were stronger we could fish for conger with 6000 size multipliers. Although it's classed as a 12, it will take about 8oo yds of 50lb braid, that's enough for a sailfish or tuna, let alone a conger or tope. Lighter fishing tackle leads to more enjoyment. I'll keep you all informed of it's progress.

Hi Davy, this is the point I'm trying to make. With modern braids we no longer need big reels for their line capacity, this 12lb class reel will handle 80lb braid as it's so strong and coupled with a 50/80 rod would be superb. When are the big flatties around, we could put the 2 to the test.
