and i would rather catch any fish from a river rather than a mud hole commmercial lake, theres just something better about rivers.

just because they're not a native species doesn't mean they shouldn't be here, they have established themselves and thrive in most waters, the point with barbel is (as peter says) that they aren't happy in still water abd are purely introduced to make more money for fisheries.

 

(but you're right river fishing is more enjoyable than still water )

You are right about the introduction of carp Ben. Great fish to have in our fisheries, they provide hours of amusement, one way or another . The carp amuses those who fish for 'em, and those who fish for 'em amuses those that don't!! The first mentioned bait for carp, the second carp bait! Great sport either way !
