Kalamata Greece

My mate is having a house built in Kalamata Greece , 10 minutes from the sea. He wants to know what fish can be caught from the shore in that area. He is moving out there for good in a few months.

Does anyone Know?

Hi Kent, Wish it was me that was building a house there, We were looking at N.W.Corfu for a "build", but one of the first things I did was check out the fishing , it was rubbish..mibbes your mate should have done the same...before building...BUT, hope it goes well, let us know ...

Hi Norrie, My Sister lives on the N of Corfu, while the fishing isnt brilliant my Brother in Law is pretty acomplished at catching Bass, gars, mullet, dorado and sword fish, so while I agree the Med is prob overfished there are fish to be had!

 

So Kentangler, I expect the same is true of Kalamata, it'll be a case of a boat is best and knowing where to go!

Thanks chaps. As a matter of fact, he isn't an angler, so it wasn't a factor in the house build, but just wondered if it was worth a try.

Dan, We were looking around Arillas,and San Stephanos...lovely place too. But the fishing leaves a lot to be desired...didnt see a single fish, except in the market in Corfu town...
