I have been trying to source a pot hauler for lobster pots which would be used on a casual basis (ie not commercially).

Are you aware of a uk dealer? Could you advise contact details please?

There used to be a device that fitted on the top of a Seagull outboard motor flywheel.

Elton:

Try getting hold of the fishing news, it is a commercial fishermans weekly or there is usually fishing gear for sale (google search) on used fishing boats for sale.

Bit of advice, don't go out alone and don't make a string of pots when you first start, use single pots until you get the hang of it. If there is a crabber near to you ask if you can crew for him for a day or 2.

Cheers

Commercial pot haulers are a bit clunky - and pricey. A quick search found some "sport" models from Canadian and US suppliers who can probably export to the UK. However I expect it would be cheaper to rig a capstan to a suitable electic motor on a DIY basis for a small boat. Or try a boat jumble for a secondhand anchor winch.
