Well Clive you’re a breath of fresh air by putting your hand up and to some degree taking some of the blame, I to find it hard to take on board all these other stakeholders having a say in ‘fishery management’ but it does remind us that it is a common rescores.

I can’t support your analogy that your/my generation thought this to be an endless resource the prophets of doom were raising their voices way back in the sixties to my knowledge when the first factory ships came over the horizon. Fact is no one took it seriously and some still don’t.

The prophets of doom were there in the 1300's when the 'Wondychroum' the first beam trawl was used, that was going to destroy the fisheries. There were plenty of fish around in the 70's and 80's and the loss of Icelandic grounds and EEC politics threw a lot of money at developing Europes fishing fleet to exploit the North sea grounds. That combined with technological developments in Electronics and fishing gear technology did not help the fishes cause.

Lots of factors to blame really, but if we have no management and a total free for all, economics will manage fisheries. If a ship can't earn enough to pay its way it goes bust and the fish get a rest from one of their predators. I sometimes wonder if all the expense of scientists, a million management committees, the fish police etc are worth the capital cost which is around 10% of the industry turnover figure.

This could be a very prolonged debate however

That one net looks pretty lightweight to me, perhaps they can go out and clear the murrey off, that one has six derrick deck cranes on, sitting upright and is shrouded in nets with a complete trawl with doors as well hanging off one corner. There is also a huge amount of sea life at risk compared to the one or two specis, showing within this video.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Gill nets are banned in Scottish waters

No they're not, that's garbage. Monofilament nets of any kind are banned, gill nets are perfectly legal.

Trust me to get it wrong Sorry

What are tangle nets made from because they are what caused the problem?

Nets can be made from anything you want them made from. Tangle nets are best to be lightly made which makes the best oiptions for them Mono (ilegal in Scotland), Multi-Mono (not ilegal in Scotland) or light cotton, which is legal everywhere too.

Cheers for that Seafoods I would point out that your good pal SteveG may have miss led me on this subject or more likely I have misunderstood him. I have asked for some clarity. Though TBH your explination is quite clear.
