That could mean a lot of sea anglers voting to leave the EU in the coming referendum. :)

You only get out of the e u what you put in. The blame for the decimation of the charter boat industry and bass angling as we know it,  being ruined is 100% with TAT, the angling trust. They claim that they represent all anglers, WITHOUT CONSULTATION  they went to both defra and the e u screaming that the bass stocks are falling off a cliff, using shiet science based from one area of the channel. They don't even have one sea angling rep on their books.

Farage has joined the band waggon seaking headlines, blaming the e u. If TAT had kept it's trap shut, this would not have happened.

What's the next species that TAT wish to control on behalf of anglers.

Common eel, no take ban.  Any update following the claim  of 98% depletion as the ban was sought, rsa where ignored at that time as the claim was, they discussed it with their sea committee, never happened. Commercials can carry on as is btw. RESULT, 50% EEL BEING SENT BACK BLEEDING FROM THE GILLS. WITHIN THE SALTWATER AREAS.

Tope, reaffirmation of the rsa  take ban, without consultation, yet again,  one guy within  TAT was responsible for that one. RESULT, SOME TOPE BEING SENT BACK BLEEDING FROM THE GILLS.

Bream on the south coast, just one area kingmeare, where they claim decimation of the stock, no where else on the south coast, btw.

Bass falling off a cliff, throughout the eu fishery. According to TAT. RESULT,  RSA  BASS WILL BE SENT BACK BLEEDING.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because  they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I'm not a sea angler, and never likely to be, but I deplore any erosion of our rights as UK citizens, particularly if it is instigated by the EU.

Who will police this law, and how?

I have been quite surprised at the lack of concern from anglers.

Most recreational shore fishermen I have spoken to know nothing about it and  say they will ignore it, as there is no way it can be policed effectively.

It will be different for the charter boats, most of whom rely on bass as a main quarry species for part of the year, they will have to toe the line.

Have the Angling Trust released any statements about this partial ban ?

They are attempting to distance themselves from the e u's rsa bag limit, now stating that they are against it.

They also claim that the rsa will accept and have no issues with a no take ban for 6 months of the year. THAT'S WITHOUT ANY CONSULTATION BTW.  When TAT first started lobbying the eu, salter didn't like the response coming back where the e u proposed a one fish take limit. He claimed at the time 3 fish bag limit was acceptable.

I challenge TAT to provide any evidence of stock depletion, other than using  the one stock from the solent. They won't because there isn't.

Some of this press release below,  I take with a pinch of salt, Salter is now  bigging up the netting take as the average for many years within the u k bass fishery was approximately up until the regs changed last year,  one third, trawling, netting and line caught. Netting was slightly more, due to the fact that for many years, u k pair trawling for  bass was banned, ask roskilly about that one, the reason why,  decimation of  dolphins was used at the time, yet the French and the Dutch have carried out pair trawling with impunity in the channel. That was the main imbalance in my opinion and the main problem with the bass take.

The French commercial take compared with the u k's was 9 times as much, yet we are were we are in the u k because of TAT's involvement. So all these nice new restrictions on the u k rsa, can anyone honestly consider it to be the fix? I don't.

Comments from another commercial guy last year, Stephen lives near and has fished from the solent for many years, I challenge TAT to offer up any counter to his comments:

BASS,

Scientific survey evidence flawed and misrepresented

Last years bass survey conducted in the Solent   waters has been presented to ICES who in turn has informed the EU fisheries commission the bass recruitment has been poor and as a consequence has recommended certain measures to be introduced on a precautionary basis.

Scientist use the same vessel and trawl each year and trawl the same tows, sounds mechanical however its not analytical scientific reasoning because it does not take into account fluctuations or variations in local conditions or bass behavior.

Last years bass survey found very low numbers of bass on the usual grounds the scientists towed so they assumed that recruitment had been poor. In fact vast shoals of juvenile bass of all sizes had been working in Portsmouth   Harbour , Brambles Bank and Thorny Knoll all summer long. Thousands of seagulls were working all day long on the whitebait these juvenile bass chased to the surface.

The survey vessel had to pass by the massive flocks of seagulls working above the  juvenile bass shoals as they left and returned to port.

The scientist did not seek stakeholders views so as to confirm there findings of there survey, if they had consulted with stakeholders they may have realized that a variation in bass behavior had taken place which had grossly distorted there survey findings and bearing in mind this is the only bass survey to be conducted in the UK

If the EU fisheries commission implements all or part of ICES recommendations which is based on inept scientific survey then small coastal fishing communities will be adversely affected.

Late last year, I saw shoals of bass, above the previous and below the new mls in Folkestone bay. The bass where chasing the whitebait  and the gulls where going bonkers doing the same. The bass were being caught by us rsa two and three at a time, using hokkies. That is not  a stock falling off a cliff. Yet again the new restrictions that have to be questioned as legal against the rsa will not fix anything, ever.

I challenge TAT to claim otherwise.

Do the Angling Trust ever respond to threads like this on Angling Forums ?
