  1. Cheers guys Will see what i can sort out and stick round the pier (as long as the harbour master agrees) otherwise will ask if the tackle shops will display/ offer copies. Agreed Leon Although it seems like common sense too many people take all sizes, even those too small to eat are taken 'for the garden' it does yer head in!
  2. As the originator it should still be your copyright (depending on your agreement with the publication) in the same way as photographs remain the property of the photographer unless specifically sold inclusive of copyright. If item is already in the public domain and is available in a publicly accessible link then there should be no problem in either case. Hope that helps unless i mis-understood.
  3. Thanks Leon the fog clears, although i cant agree that the revenues would work in proportion the same as the freshwater does, i am thinking that the coarse infrastructure has been in place for quite some time and as such there are no hangovers (financial) left from the adminastrative set-up.
  4. no one with a fair mind could complain about giving a fair price for a blokes livelihood (although they probably will!)
  5. I'm afraid i have to agree, any monies generatd by the licenses would be swallowed by the beaurocratic machinery as they usually keep growing untill they swallow any funds available. Any benfits realised by RSAs would be short lived in the extreme, however as per the other idea i don't know enough about how the quota system works and fail to understand how if, for example RSAs had banded together and bought chunks of the industry the quota could then be given away.
  6. Thanks Leon handy links, what i am looking for as well is some way of getting information through to the tourists as well, do you fancy posting a scan of the Dover clubs aide memoir, maybe i can sort a print out and stick a few copies round the pier
  7. I honestly think that there is a lot of 'it wont happen' thinking amongst the minority of sea anglers who even fully understand whats going on, a lot of people are under the mis-aprehention that as fishing from the shore is (at the moment) a crown right that it will remain so. People need to be educated that although it takes an act of parliment to remove this right, DEFRA being a government department, headed by a minister, this is exactly what they are in a position to and business of achieving! Has anyone seen the interview with Ben Bradshaw in TSF? From his own mouth comes the fact that we need more effective lobbying!
  8. Anyone know where i can find a definitive list of MLS information for UK coastal waters? Tourist season is nearly upon us again and i was wondering if maybe someone (such as SACN Leon?) could produce a basic aide memoire of this information for distribution through the tackle shops. Yesyesyesyes i know most of em dont know a mackerel from a sperm whale but any hints might help! Any opinions?
  9. One thing though whats to stop the laden boats from plotting the shoal and radioing a fix to their mate, although i know nothing about comercial Bass fishing and am not sure if i can see a problem in what these boats did, (see Jim Ropers comment/ question) I for one would not lik to xpress any kind of firm opinion on this without knowledge of th regs.
  10. Think its obvious from the way the topic has progressed that some of us (especially me!) have learned quite a bit and had perceptions altered a little, just shows how knee jerk reactions to a picture with no accompanying text can be way off base.
  11. My point exactly, (although i had forgotten a couple of the facts you mentioned) mis ifnormation and mis representation will mess us all up.
  12. Yes but we will be as the track record from other sports suggests, remember that loony going mad in hungerford with an assault rifle? the govornment restricted legal shotguns. Another nutter went bezerk in a primary school in Scotland (despite the police being warned about him but he was a mate of a chief constable so that was ok) they further restricted shotguns and banned pistols. Foxhunting, did the powers that be even listen for a moment to the people who actually have some knowledge of the subject? .......... not a bit of it! Bow hunting, apparently causes unneccessary suffering.... funnily enough a bow used properly kills as efficiently as a rifle, but that small fact got ignored. The fact is that they will restrict us out of existence if they can.
  13. Gotcha, i should have read the post properly in the first place! Thats what i get for scanning with my head still in work mode!
  14. Have to agree again call a tosser whatever you like they're still a tosser! Yup that's pretty much what i was getting at the other day.
  15. I would have thought that this would make more sense than the pair dumping the extra Bass then the third vessel having to go and catch their own quota thereby wasting all those fish..... or am i missing something?
  16. Thanks toerag. Sounds a bit like my fishing the 'hit nothing at all' part
  17. Fair comments both, thanks. Time wise would it be unreasonable for the potters to let them go rather than leave them dead in the pots? Or crabs being crabs are they used for the smell as bait?
  18. Dead on the button Barry! Specific number of fish = specific number of tags = end of argument!
  19. Again if and when things are decided , who will police it, if things are allowed to sink too far in, there is a real danger of over legislation, multi species over protection and a real basic pollitical **** contest where the only losers are those of us who fish whether recreationally or commercially.
  20. Aaah c'mon someone must have a pearl of wisdom! Aaah c'mon someone must have a pearl of wisdom!
  21. Fair play always willing to listen to those with more sense than meself! & theres loads of them!
  22. Agreed, now we can do it here how about whitehall? sorry hopefully the above statement shows some hope and good intention rather than sheer drunken optimism
  23. Agreed, now we can do it here how about whitehall?
  24. Thinking that although i love my fishing and sometimes i have taken more than i will eat in the mext few weeks (a rare good day) they have gone in the freezer ready for eating, i consider that anyone wishing to sell fish should be govorned under comercial fishing legislation otherwise this is just another neither/nor situation which muddies the waters of the whole debate. I feel that this is a gaping loophole which could be exploited by the immoral amongst both parties and likewise used to shoot down the arguments from both parties.
  25. The guy who decides to go out and catch bass and to sell commercially should buy the tags, if he gives some away to his friends or what ever he decides to do with the tags is up to him, just like quoter buying and selling really. If he is lucky to catch a trawl full then again its down the the person to ensure that he has the correct and enough tags or he puts them back, simple. I don't see that it should be anymore complicated than that. No tags no selling. There does not have to be a great value to these tags as they should only be allowed to be purchaced from the local sfc or agents controlling. If the tags are there to ensure adherence to quota system/ bag limits then instead of selling them distribute them to comercial only interests as per the licencing information held, therefore no real monetary value is attatched to them. Sport anglers can continue to take for own use and restraunts would be checkable via the number of covers through the books. Although not foolproof surely a system like this would be a reasonably painless starting point.
