  1. No need for shock leader if you have 8lb+ mainwine.
  2. First of all, a rabbits brain is about 1 inch or so. NOT 2 inches. Secondly a 50m shot isn't THAT hard as you can go prone and rabbits wont move, thirdly a 20 yard squirrel is harder than a 40 yard bunny due to smaller target, they are tougher and clever and move alot. I suggest anyone SERIOUS and doesn't brag to join this forum: http://www.airgunforum.net
  3. Nope, just look in the right places.
  4. On no ground bait waters I always throw a bit of hemp in and chuck all corn in at the in the margins and go back next day/week/month
  5. Ive ordered an abu inticer rod and mullarkeys line (not mill end). Take a look on mullarkeys web site some good savings, okuma graphite fly reel, 11.20 fully salt water proof. Also on bosfish you can get a shakespeare pro reel 8 quid.
  6. So I should be alright for salmon to 10 lbs? Good luck with your #3
  7. Yes there is, of a fashion. All airgun sales are now sent to a data base due to the VCR bill.
  8. Although I know jack -poopoo- about fly fishing I'd guess that rod is about 60 +/- years old. Maybe older.
  9. What's the biggest fish a 6/7 rod could put up with? (sorry to hijack your thread)
  10. Hahaha. Stop being stuipid and use the pencil, all the twists come out eventualy, if there are any at all..
  11. Field target? Plinking, fun.
  12. Both look like very good paintings. They looks nice.
  13. I'll be fishing salmon soon. Do prawns work well? Freelined ones that is.
  14. I've been told its mostly practice.
  15. Maybe you shoudl stop being difficult and go round teh other side of the lake
  16. All though I'm new to the whole fly thing I know my dad told me alot when I was younger. I my self have ordered the following to get started: 1 X Abu Enticer Pro Fly Rod 9.6ft 6/7 (2 piece) 1 X Okuma S Series 380S Fly REEL(WF8 + 50yds) 1 X Shakespeare Professional Backing Line 75m 1 X Mullarkeys Ideal Floating Fly Lines Weight Forward WF#7F 3 X Shakespeare Worcestershire Fly Tapered Leaders 9ft (each) 1 X Shakespeare Dry Fly Silicone Spray 1 X Leeda Profil Casts Salmon Casts-No Droppers 10lb 1 X 12 Assorted Dry Flies 1 X 12 Assorted Lure Flies 1 X 12 Assorted Nymph Flies 1 X 12 Assorted Wet Flies ---------------------------------------------- To get started you need a rod, reel, backing line (braided), fly line and a leader and some flys.) To catch a trout on say a river you'd need to fish a nymph fly cast at the fish you see where as in summer a dry fly could be used. Fly fishing is more mobile than carp fishing and you need to keep light, Idealy all you need to carry is some flies and a spare leader and possibley a landing net. I'm sure all the more experienced guys could be of more help/reinforce what I've said.
  17. Yes its a pre charged rifle, that was a 1/2 inch group kneeling at 30 yards. EDIT: Scope = Hawke Varmint MkII 3-12x44 with front PX. 10 shot retrofit mag in place too.
  18. Hi guys as you may know im new to fly fishing but here is the area/terrain im fishing, I plan on joining this angling club. http://www.dolgellauanglingassociation.co....nfisheries.html
  19. Dont worry. Here is my never fail technique for mullet. Things needed: A spinning rod, 8-9ft. Fixed spood reel + line hooks in sizes 8-12 barbless Squid rings A few split shot A decent torch(not needed if there is harbour lights The cover of darkness Bread for loose feeding Use a short-ish spinning rod and a fixed spool reel filled with about 6-8lb line. Put a size 8 hook on to start and a place a BB shot just above the hook. Cut a bit of squid up, walk around the harbour until fish are found. Throw in a bit of bread, enough to get them feeding, try to get them in a close as possible. If they are near enough you can drop your line in with out casting. Watch the fish as they nip at the bait. Wait untill one has the bait firmly in its mouth and is swimming off, STRIKE! hopefully the fish is on and play the fish til' its ready to come out, Unhook and place away from the shoal ( if its is still there ) so's not to frighten them. Hope you have alot of fun catching mullet. Josh
  20. http://www.maggotdrowning.com/stillwaters.htm try that
