ok now listen i didnt say i agreed with barbel being stocked in still waters i asked a simple question and got abuse. my oppinion on rivers is id love to visit them and fish them but when i phoned certain angling clubs about them i couldnt even get info like where their waters start where near possible parking was, i was going to makins anywayso i thought id fish for all whats in there and was told of the barble didnt catch one so i asked. i also know my spelling wasnt up to much but i thought i wasnt in a english exam. as for the spawning theory they do spawn in stillwaters as shown in angling times last week so that theory is rubbish also if ur not going to fish for anything but native fish check ur history carp aint native to this country but im not going to lower myself to get into an argument i asked a question on a forum got abuse back and didnt deserve it . i take on bored ur advise on where to fish for them but every lake around where i live has been stocked from elsewhere so is not natural and expensive and fully booked for up to a year at weekends and im sorry but some of us work in the week. if someone in the daventry area knows any usefull info of local rivers feel free to let me know as all the info on nene club milton keynes etc is out of date otherwise if you cant be helpfull rather than abusive then do us a favour do reply. ps this forum used to be good advise (that i will welcome) not an excuse to have a dig at peeps

hi can anyone recomend a specimen carp day ticket water near Daventry Northants thanks from cobra

i wonder if anyone can help me my daughter and i and a few friends went to makins this last saturday as we had been advised we could catch barbel there the anglers mail had it in there a few weeks back saying that the lizard lake in phase 2 holds them up to 16lb and pegs 77- 80 are ther red hot pegs so of we went . we spent the day there and caught lots of roach small bream and small carp but nothing else after chatting to lots of fellow anglers found out that noone had caught barbel that day and some fished there regular said they never had. my daughter wants to catch barbel and chubb and i know peeps will say go to a river but does makins hold them and what lake are we most likely to catch big chub and especially barbel. so please help someone must know as peeps keep giving me different advise.

welldone with getting your first pike mate i love lure fishing ,theres nothing quite like it when a good size pike grabs your lure, ive been getting alot of success with big surface lures lately but when it gets colder you might find the deeper lures work try lots of different lures and spinners to find the ones that are working on your water ,im not very successfull with dead baits as yet but i fully intend to give it a good go so we will have to compare notes

i must say i like the predator programs and also total fishing which give excellent tips which i have used ,i will say though that all the tv programs when saing what rigs they use seem to assume that everyone knows how to set tem up ,my kids are allways asking how do you do that rig what does he mean by helecopters for eg but the great rod race and the greater rod race is sheer class viewing ,my wife got into that and she dont fish at all so thumbs up matty and mick but as far as im concerned any fishing on tv is better than none so keep it coming ( a bit less fauna chat though jw wouldnt go amiss

ok here is the latest update: went to doglane and picked up a few species: dace roach gudgeon bream rudd add that to the others : pike perch tench crucean carp common carp mirror carp golden tench wild carp but still need loads more from near to Daventry Northants eg zander, eels, chub barbell etc so come on peeps need places to go.

thanks mate i recon it should band to use the fixed rig if it can kill the fish

ok with a risk of sounding dim im not a specialist carp angler so can you explain these rigs for the noobs to this type of fishing like me please sorry for being a bit dumb

my kids have been watching the great rod race on tv and have decided that we should try it but we have decided to do it over a year , thanks to terry on this forum we have made a start we have so far got:- pike perch tench crucean carp common carp mirror carp we live near to Daventry northants and funds are a bit low so if peeps can give us some ideas where to catch the other species we need local we would be greatfull my son recons he wants to tackle eels soon so local places with a high chance would be cool but any other species local would be just as good. wish us luck

thanks terry went to napton res this morning and we had a great day got about 70-80 lbs of tench soem cruseans and good perch next i want eels , bream and chub

this isnt just confined to angling its the way this country is going crime is growing out of control and the police dont seem to want to actually do anything about it i bet they just got a crime number and probably will never hear any more about it. The amount of yobs patrolling the streets being abusive and causing criminal damage around where i live is on the increase and nothing is done about it , these yobs should be put in chain gangs made to repair the damage they have done at their expence and be properly punnished for their actions... sorry if im going on a bit but it makes me so angry! and the papers should name and shame them!

i can only say about my experincesbut the loaded carp crystals have been excellent for me and you can get them from most tackle shops

ive been watching alot of angling programs lately especially total fishing/great rod race etc and matt recomends braided lines over mono but alot of the waters near me have banned the use of them now with the risk of sounding dumb has anyone know why and is the ban justified or is it just a case of preference?

i have a weeks holiday next week and i want to take my son to a mixed species venue near to Daventry which is fishing well and we have a good chance of a good allround days fishing on a day ticket but i would like to get into some good tench so if anyone knows of any please say on the topic please
