  1. Very good point and one I wouldn't like to answer. Joe
  2. Yes but a working angler has the choice to fish evenings, a single parent has the choice to go alone, an angler in a wheelchair does not have the choice of walking. If you can't access all those swims because of health reasons then in my opinion yes you should get some sort of discount because you can not get the full benefits of the licence. Yes that's true but we do have to make concesions, I mean should blind people have to pay a full TV licence. I think that's already been answered enough. Joe
  3. As much as it grieves me to stick up for the government the main reason for the EA's recent shortfall is because Defra assumed it was going to get a larger budget than it did and ended up with a £200 million deficit, muppets can't even add. Pretty much agree with everything else though. Joe
  4. I think your missing the point, football can be played for as little as a few pounds between mates in the park as can cricket, you do not have to spend vast amounts of money to play football, cricket or to go fishing. I myself have spent under £100 pound on coarse angling in the last two years and that includes any tackle I have bought, bait and 2 rod licences, just because some can afford to buy loads of tackle, fish most weekends, pay to fish commercials and can afford to pay more for a rod licence do not assume everyone can. Joe
  5. Disabled anglers get a reduced rate because a lot of them can't access alot of places that able bodied anglers can and can't fish as often therefore why should they pay as much, would you feel the same if you had to say pay the same TV licence fee as everyone else but were only ever able to watch half the programmes and infact some days not be able to watch any at all. Wether angling is a luxury or not depends on your point of view, is it a luxury for the angler who fishes for the pot or for the angler who fishes for health reasons. Joe
  6. Got to agree, if it's atached to the shore and you can step onto it then as far as I'm concerned it's an extension of the shore. Joe
  7. I think it's the shortest summer we've had in donkeys years. Joe
  8. About time, anglers have been reporting these incidents to the EA for a long time now, it's taken them long enough to do something about it. Joe
  9. I just thought they hadn't been cleaned properly Joe
  10. Cheers for that. Now I see why they want to introduce the licence, they have to pay for the expenses run up on those roadshows somehow It's amazing just how much money is wasted each year by this government, if they were a company those in charge would have been gotton rid of years ago (unless they were a utility company). Joe
  11. The magna carta was a written document that outlined the rights and obligations of the people of britain including the monarchy and barons and is the basis of our legal system, isn't that a constitution? Joe
  12. We do have one it's called the Magna Carta and it is what a few countries have based their law syatem and rights on such as America and Australia. The only difference is there is sod all left of ours now (2 paragraphs I think of the original document still remain law) succesive governments have wittled it away to nothing. How about a written government constitution outlining MP's rights and OBLIGATIONS to citizens. Joe
  13. Can't seem to edit the post, maybe because not enough posts made. Can admin remove the email address for me please as I'm putting some new links up now Cheers Joe Here is some new links for the leaflet and poster, should make it easier to download them http://files-upload.com/files/436269/Leaflet.doc http://files-upload.com/files/430006/Poster.doc I have also done some adobe pdf versions http://2.download-2.files-upload.com/150/2...-30/Leaflet.pdf http://6.download-1.files-upload.com/150/2...3-30/Poster.pdf These should open in your browser window and then you can save them to your PC by clicking save a copy. Any problems let me know Joe
  14. Can't understand that because it's turned on, anyway here you go Joe
  15. Totally agree Steve, the trouble is there is no real enforcement of fishery rules or bylaws. I can't see the point in bringing in new laws, it's more enforcement that is needed not more laws. Joe
  16. Sorry for my lack of knowledge but who is Nicola Clarke? Joe
  17. And Parliamentary angling spokesman Martin Salter MP claims some eastern European migrants take fish to eat. The Reading MP said: "Poles and eastern Europeans, in particular, have been seen and occasionally caught removing all species of coarse fish, roach, bream and perch." Occasionally????? BBC correspondent Niki Cardwell says the problem is partly cultural with eastern European immigrants - for whom carp is a delicacy - taking fish from lakes. They do not realise that it is unacceptable to eat the fish they catch, she says, adding that poachers have been seen patrolling lakes. But it was acceptable for thousands of years, that is why we have carp in this country. Joe
  18. Glad to see some more anglers who are against it, the campaign is only just getting going really but hopefuly with a bit more advertising it should step up a gear. Thanks for the support Joe
  19. In my opinion the biggest threat to angling at the moment is politics. I prefer to use older tactics, I'm not really into new fangled gadgets and camo doesn't really do it for me. I fish for anything coarse, sea and game but I don't really have any time at the moment for much of any of them. I feel angling was certainly better years ago than now, there may be bigger fish about now but there isn't as many (or maybe I'm just not catching them). Just my opinion Joe
  20. I most certainly am Barry, for many reasons. Joe
  21. For any anglers who are against the proposed sea rod licence I have produced an A4 poster and a leaflet to coincide with the online petition http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/anglers/ (just in case someone didn't know) The leaflet is a 2 sided A4 microsoft word document that folds into 3 to create a brochure/leaflet, here is a preview it can be downloaded here http://file2upload.net/download/19752/leaflet_1.doc.html The poster is just a standard single sided A4 sheet, here is a preview it can be downloaded here http://file2upload.net/download/19841/Poster.doc.html If every angler on here who is against the licence could print of some of these and place them in your local tackle shop, your car or anywhere else you can think of it would help spread the word. Cheers Joe
