  1. The main gripe seems to be that this was done behind closed doors decisions made on our behalf and we werent even cosulted if we wanted this .I and quite a few others are suspicious of the AT whether this is justifyed or not remains to be seen but there track record doesnt seem that great.
  2. What are this sites views on the AT a lot of disgruntled kayakers about at the mo
  3. Q1. I thought looking at the images of fishfinders, that they gave a contoured view of the bottom to the left and right of the boat (with the boat being in the middle of the display). However, after looking further, it seems that the display scrolls, and is made up of the history of foward movement. ie. If the boat is stationary for a period of time, then a flat horizontal line will eventually be drawn across the bottom of the screen. Is this correct ? What you see just coming into the screen is below you everything else has passed behind you if you stayed still you will get a flat contour with maybe a bit of undulation due to the swell Q2. If this is correct, then what is the point of having dual frequency/wide scanning units ? It seems to me, that if I am correct, then you cannot tell from the display, where the fish/bottom features are, in relation to the boat. ie. all you know is that they are within the SONAR beam cone somewhere (could be to the left or the right, or directly under the boat !!). In fact, it seems that in a way, you are worse off with a wide angle 90 degree 83 khz beam, because all you know is that there may be a fish within 30 yards of the boat, somewhere to the left or right ????!!! In dual beam mode the contour is usally what is directly under the boat depending on model and manurfacturer fish will be shown facing left for left side of boat right for right hand side some show outline of fish for left solid fish for right . Q3. Again, if I am right on Q1, then what IS being drawn to show the bottom at any given instant - is it the highest point within the scanned area (ie. the highest point on the bottom in the 60 degree slice beneath the boat) - or maybe the lowest point ? To sum up just coming into screen right below you already on the screen youve past it .i mainly use mine to find features unless you buy a good quallity finder the chances are the returns that have a fish symbol are a mix of fish weed and suspended debris anyway as the saying goes find the structure find the fish best way to learn is play play play soon youll know by the bottom line wether the bottom is made of rock sand mud

I have a prowler big game and use a sea tug and there are quite a few scratches on the bottom no probs being plastic but with the gel coat finish on the dorado would this be a problem .The big game is just to slow and cumbersome i need a new yak any other suggestions gratefully received.
