  1. wont the depth and nature of the river be different in the river come summer, especially if we have another wet summer like the last.
  2. your bulk shot should be nearer your hook endor little fish are towing the lineor sometimes when a fish swims into your line
  3. it will be a big big fish that will snap size 6 latex elastic, i have caught 10lbers on it, although it would not be suitable for margin work or if you are fishing big baits when you know there are big fish in the water. Yeah you can shorten the elastic coming out of the end, a bigish carp will stretch the elastic a lot so to get the fish in netting range you need to pull some elastic through. you should always land fish on as lthe top kit as this reduces stress on joints.
  4. its called bouncing fish. you have to balance your tackle, i use size 6 solid latez my map in my match tops, i use these along with a pulla bung at the end (by preston) so if i do get into a 10lb carp i will be able to land it a. because that elastic is strong enough not to snap and b i can change the tension of the elastic so the carp gets into netting range, hope this helps!!!
  5. f1's are difficult blighters to catch, very finiky biters. Lots of people mistake small carp for f1s! F1s have a different head, are always fully scalled, no barbules and are a rich brown shade!
  6. F1 is a cross between a brown goldfish and carp!!
  7. best bet would be to go to your local tackle shop and ask to see a pack to observe the difference, they are good for big baits as suggested, sweetcorn is best hooked in my opinion on wide gaped hooks
  8. they are juvenile silver bream
  9. she seems quite affected, one of her quotes --> "I feel there's a reason for me to be doing this work, and whenever I go down to the river at Worcester, Shrewsbury or wherever, the swans come over to me because they realise I'm on their side" so they dont just go to anyone who looks like they have food, actually scrap that they go to anyone or anything and start hissing if you dont feed them!!! also i am not a huge river angler however i would never be thinking of using shot as small as 8s anyway??
  10. guess what ------ carp love them!!
  11. If they were not such gluts and pests they wouldn't die, they are a naturally greedy, inquisitive and bully of an animal. I have seen a swan attack an angler on a still water from 'shoo-ing' it away for its own safety as he was fishing on the drop and he didnt want the bird grabing the hook bait by mistake (so he informed me)
  12. good old maxima. some of the smaller diameter lines would also be interesting albeit very hard to measure!!! pole specific line aswel I always feel is a lot stronger than often stated, I have some carptek hit and hold pole line that i swear could tug a tank!!
  13. if i keep them for over a week i put them in the fridge for two out for one - riddle (drain if sweating) and put some brown crumb on them repeat. clean the container if you putting them back in!! i only have a little fridge for beers or lucozade, whichever way you want to go!!
  14. very true, I have some kamasan animals size 20's and kamasan b(something or the others) in 16's and they are the same size pretty much?!?!?!?
  15. still for price and attraction pellet and groundbait are tops plus they have the benefit of not being to filling. dont forget these new baits would not sell if they did not work!! however i always have on my table maggots (albeit they very expensive now), corn and bread!
  16. interesting that maver charges an arm and leg for its products and they were one of if not the worst there
  17. I fully sympathise with that however the point I am trying to make is that by fishing most methods on mixed comercial waters you will attract most species within the water if not all, i.e refering back to the subject there is no diffinitive way of fishing to rule out certain species. and before you start hypothesising about how long and what type of fishing I do I shall just say that bream is my favourite species and that I am more a fan of native fish than bagging loads of carp at matches although I do the both
  18. i saw a big tank being advertised where bob nudd was going to fish so people could see reaction of fish to certain methods and baits, surely that was interesting??or not??
  19. a chub around three inches, took a while to identify it!!
  20. I have a 70 litre tank that I used to use as a tropical tank. I was wondering if I could introduce small roach/rudd or gudgeon into the tank - obviously making it a cold water tank.
  21. well i dont expect to catch whats not in the pool but if i am fishing a certain technique that will attract differing species of fish then I plan and set up for that, whats the point changing a tactic so that you will catch less fish to me that is absurd (unless you are after bigger fish - specimen hunting style). Surely it is always more fun using a technique that ensures you can catch a variety of fish rather than just one species!??!?! just an opinion
  22. went for strawberry and green colouring on feed pellets and hookers, got loads of bream and roach in my peg but couldn't catch on the pellet, however i changed to double maggot and was bagging up for 3 hours solid on bream and roach and even two crucians!! never heard about fish not liking the taste of sweet however it kind of ade sense here as i had a lot of knocks on the float and no resulting 'take'!!
  23. why would you want to avoid catching ANY type of fish that could be in our swim?!?! unless they make a mess of tackle and snap you up, surely some of the fun of fishing is guessing what you have just hooked into!!!
  24. Hi, Was going to flavour some pellets for a trip tomorrow and I am wondering what the fish respond to better at this time of year. Fishing for small carp, roach, rudd and skimmers. I am stuck between strawberry or fishmeal?!?! please give your opinion on this many thanks
