  12. Funny,as i mentioned in the favourite weeklys post the editor of am has a pop on page 18 using terms like net nerds and web weirdo,s and questioning the intelligence of people who visit sites like this. Then several pages later came the promotional stuff regarding the great benefits of the net for anglers?? selective amnesia is a wonderful thing..
  13. Due to a shortage of reading material i bought for the first time in ages anglers mail(double holiday edition)today. On page 18 it had a whats hot and not section, the first of the whats not not was the internet, i quote"home of the stay at home net nerds and web weirdos. Why tap into the chat of people who cannot spell paper let alone write on it."This actually was the comments of the editor.Strangely several pages on there was a smashing feature on internet angling and how to access angling sites???,oh and i.ve not changed my views it,s still cr*p.
  14. I was just wondering what everyones favourite weekly/monthly angling pubs were?.I buy angling times every week and find it has a decent balance between ads features and reviews.I used to buy anglers mail but found it had too many ads with only the andy little section worth a read?.For what its worth my favourite monthly has to be coarsefisherman, whats your topreads?.
  15. Can anyone help me obtain one of these reels?,its the creamy gold coloured one with the front drag and the wood handle?,i had one and lost it and would love to replace it?,any help gratefully received.
  16. If roach and other coarse species are to be used as bait for pike, then small pike are fair game.I am curious though on casting and hooking arrangments for a 3 pound jack??
  17. Did anyone else see the nature programme on bbc2 on sunday night about the riverbank?.Definately the best progamme of this type i have ever seen. Two female kingfishers fighting to the death when out of nowhere a mink appears to interrupt proceedings. This coupled with the footage of the the otters and the motherduck trying to lead the mink away from the ducklings was brilliant telly,if anyone knows if if you can buy this on dvd or video let me know.
  18. I was trotting Adz using maggots and small redworms as bait, cheers.
  19. Hi there, does anyone know where i can these floats online?,i am down to my last one and can,t get any more.Any help gratefully recieved.get
  20. Just had a smashing days grayling fishing,11 grayling and countless brown trout. If you have a river that holds grayling nearbye then get out there your missing something special.
  21. Grayling are without doubt my favourite species of all to fish for.My favourite (and most productive)days are the mild days that you get between frosty spells.I have never found them to be particularly shybiting and as long as you fish fairly light you shouldn,t have any probs hooking and landing a few. My set up is 2 and a half test line,an avon wire stemmed stickfloat, size 18 barbed hook with the shot bulked 10 inches above the hook.Like Andy i catapult a few freebies into the head of the run(maggots and a few corn niblets)for ten minutes to get the fish feeding with confidence. Then its time to fish.Give the swim 20 mins and if its not producing move on to the next and repeat the process, you will find them.Last year i fished a stretch of the river earn in perthshire for hours without a touch then after moving to a run further down myself and a friend landed 32 grayling in 2 hours.I would reccomend grayling fishing to anyone.
