  1. I thought they were supposed to fit in your wallet!! Might just about get them in the wife's handbag
  2. I'm thinking of joining DRAC, and have seen the post on here from a few years ago. Their website seems quite impressive. Is anyone a member, or can give me any opinion of their waters Any opinions would be welcome.
  3. Thanks to Simon and Rusty for your comments. The rod is a 13ft extendable to 15ft and is due here on Friday, so I hope to try it out on Sunday, just as long as St Peter keeps the weather under control. I'll let you know if it performs!
  4. I'm thinking of buying a Ron Thompson 13/15ft waggler rod, mainly for use on the Trent. Target species would be mainly silver fish, but there are good sized chub and barbel around as well. Do you think this rod would be suitable?
  5. Try www.wunderground.com Depends on if there's one of their stations close to you. I find it pretty accurate for my area, Long Eaton, Notts.
  6. Plenty of choice around Soton and Pompy. Avon, Itchen, Test, Stour, and loads of still water too. Broadlands lakes, just west of Soton. Plus some decent sea fishing Don't know about Cambridge
  7. Alan, Before you go again, buy 2 more unhooking mats and tie one round each ankle for extra protection. It just goes to show that you should accept the good advice, and bin the bad. Well done, and keep enjoying your fishing!!
  8. She was only the undertakers daughter, but she'd lay under any old sod
  9. Chris, looks fantastic, and will certainly be on my wish list. Reminds me of a few seasons fishing on the Hale Park waters, (with a lot less success!!)
  10. Congratulations, What a feeling! I/m sure there'll be bigger ones, but will they be more important than your first?
  11. Dr Bacardi, Try giving it a few taps either side of the join, not too hard!! Or WD40 spray and wait 15 mins. Good Luck!
  12. If you know some one who has an allotment, with a compost heap, you can get some lovely red worms. Or anyone who has a pile of manure, dig in the pile, if it's old, or in the soil underneath if it's fairly new.
  13. Thanks very much for that info. Hopefully I'll be trying them out again shortly
  14. Are Polaris floats still available, as I haven't been able to find them recently? Who is the manufacturer?
  15. Poldark, You're supposed to be listing things you've done wrong, not right!!
  16. Terry, Welcome, from a newboy. I love you attitude Its all about the pleasure of fishing, not just getting bigger fish. Where are you from?/ where do you fish?
  17. Thanks Colin, The website seems to have been abandoned! I'm moving back into the area at the end of this month, so I'll just have to get the legs working and go and visit the tackle shops and fisheries and see what I can find
  18. Can anyone help me, as their website is out of date? Do they still have the rights on Attenborough gravel pits, is it members only? I last fished there over 40 years ago, what it like now? Whats the annual subscription to NAA? Any info would be much appreciated
  19. Hi Shiggi, Most of the regions in Spain have different licensing systems, so it will depend exactly where you are. In Andalusia you need a boat fishing licence as opposed to a shore fishing one. You also need a licence to use the boat, depending on how far off shore, size of boat and time of day/night. Best thing to do is speak to the local marina. Sorry I can't be more specific. Buena pesca amigo
  20. Waspgrub, seriously though, do you know who controls the Attenborough pits now, and what the fishing like?
  21. Bloody 'ell Waspgrub, I f you remeber it from the 60's, and are still a Junior Member they must sell some amazingly magic beer up there! I can see the headlines now. 'Fountain of Eternal Youth discovered in Sawley' I remember John the baliff, special constable I think, from when I fished the Harrington Arms stretch in the 90's . Now I see someones nicked the island; should have kept him on!!
  22. Hello Fellow Anglers Just about to move to Long Eaton, between Derby and Nottingham, and would like your advice. 1. I prefer river fishing, (all species), so what's the best club to join, or where are the good day ticket waters? 2. I used to fish Attenborough gravel pits some 40 years ago. Who controls it now? Any information would be fantastic.
