    Kazaa

GREAT BIG FAN of Kazaa here, but not now. I have downloaded things like O**ice XP and Flindows XP etc 400mb files but well worth it if you have Broadband But now here in Denmark anyways, music companies are actually tracing Kazaa users back to there ISP and IP address and charging anything from around 100pound to 10k! for the music they have downloaded. Also, the fact that it has so much spyware on its. If you have a program that can show you what spyware is on your comp at one time it will show you all sorts of dangerous stuff  A tip though if you want to continue using it, make sure you have a VERY UPDATED Norton Anti Virus 2001 (idealy 2002 or 2003) and also make sure its on ALL THE TIME and also have Internet sercurity aswell. I have downloaded several files and if it wasnt for Norton i would of had an infected file. one final tip, although its tempting to play the little bit of file that you have gotten whilst the rest is downloading Norton won't actually check the file and determine if its infected until AFTER the file has completed downloading. I have download a few 200 upto 400mb files and as soon as they were finished BANG needed to be deleted again cuz of a virus. Finally its worth scanning the file on its own again after its downloaded even if Norton didnt say its infected.
  2. If he wants to release his old classic song "Last Christmas" again he could change some of the the lyrics to this. Last christmas, I gave you my heart But the very next day, declared i was gay This year to save me from tears I'll give it to whom its meant for
  3. I should of put in there, i know they are back at work now But please dont strike again
  4. Anyone listen to James Wale the voice of reason on Talk sport Mon-Thurs from 10pm? He has it exactly right iMO . GET BACK TO WORK! Now i aint saying that they shouldn't ask for extra money, thats fine but striking in a time when the world is in its most fragile state at the moment with Terrorists threatning cilvilised countries and people. 21k or whatever fireman get, is no not alot of money considering the risk they put them selfs through but how many other people can actually say they really like there job? MOST if not ALL fireman apparently like there job, infact like is a massive understatement to say the least. Also how many days is it that you guys work? 4days a week? Also, getting FREE meals (Ok with the risk of getting interupted), FREE workouts, FREE board Come on guys, who else gets that sort of thing? Now i want to praise fireman who read this on a wonderful job you lot do around UK. UK prolly has the best fire service in the world, and if (I serverly hope and pray not ) a terrorist attack equally or worst than 9/11 hits the UK that every firefighter in the country will be prepared to put there bit in and most importantly be at the ready. But if you are striking that is valuble seconds that could be used on more productive things like getting yourself prepared with the goverments terrorist attack prevention AND ACTION plan (If there is one yet). I personally dont like to hear or read that fire fighters in UK are using 9/11 as an excuse for more money. thats a sad and evil thing to do. Its a mighty slim chance and i know you guys would forget the strike if there was, but what if Al queda or another terriorist organisation hears of your striking and plans to make an attack? Slim chance but could happen  Anyways, keep up the good work as i shall stop blabbering now
  5. I am a brit now living in Denmark. Although Denmark has not adopted the Euro i believe maybe it will in a few years as it will have to. Lets face it, the way the world is going there will be 2 currencies in the western world. US Dollar and the EURO Which one will Britian adopt? Probably the EURO with Blair in. So eventually Britian will be known as a state, not a country. THE UNITED STATES OF EUROPE is on its way  ´Good thing?, possibly, but then again possibly not. We shall see.

    Whip Fishing

Ok, i shall try and explain this. There is 2 ways. 1) this is by far the easiest. Is to buy a connector to go onto the tip. This is known as a flick tip connector and any good tackle shop will have a range and also know what they are. 2) this is the way you mention. You first make sure there is a length of fine pole float tubing on the flick tip about 6 or 7 inches up the tip. The length of the tubing only has to be about 3 inches. This i think has to be glued on (Although i wouldnt be too keen on that). Perhaps someone can confirm this for us. Then on everyone of your rigs, you have a length of silicone about 2 inches and then your usual loop. Thats the basics, now comes the connecting it all. Get the loop on the rig and put the line back through the loop to create another loop. Slide this on the tip and put it BEHIND the float tubing placed on the tip. Next pull it so that it locks itself. Next the line should be twisted around the tip coming back towards the end of the tip but not to much. Just 3 or 4 wraps is plenty. Just make sure they are spread between the float rubber and the end of the tip. Finally put the float tubing that you have on the line onto the tip making sure that there is a little left hanging over the tip, this will help prevent tangles. Next is to whip all those fish out of the water Hope this is easy enough to understand, just ask if there is something you want explaining again.
  8. Just want to say that i am a member of this forum. This is where Geepster has been directing us so hopefully most of us will turn up on here. As for the match, i am in mixed views as to if it should continue. No, i havent sent a check off yet but i was pretty close to sending it off before the forum closed down. I agree that it would of been a great idea for the regulars of the board to meet up in person and fish against each other and i ám sure it would of been a fanstastic day out! But now the BB is closed, we aint going to be able to talk to each other like we all used too. Maybe Elton could put an seperate board up for us TF regulars? And then we could inform Geepster to email everyone that we are on here? Whatcha think guys?
  9. I worked in a Tackle shop in Ipswich before i left for Denmark. Worked there for 5 years. It is Birds Tackle and one of the largest in East of England. Can i just say this to anyone thinking of opening there own tackle shop... DON*T BOTHER! Its not worth the time, or exspense. Unless you have at least £500,000 (And thats the ABSOLUTE minimum) to throw at it plus a shop of at least 5000sq ft or so then its not worth the hassle. Most manufacturers wont look at another small local shop anymore, and the ones that do, will require you to spend such a high amount it wont be worth it. Most of the top names required at least 20k each year (Trade price) for there top settlement discount and discount structure there are a few that require more but not many. That mightnot sound like a lot but if you wanted Shimano, daiwa, Fox, maver, Shakespeare etc in your shop then you would need to spend a good 20k each year with EACH one of them. HUGE outgoings. The competition is and will always be from now on is the mail order and there huge buying powers. Luckily the shop i worked at has buying powers that can match this and is a sucessfully run shop with a mail order faclty started about a year ago. Its like the Supermarket VS Local corner shop. Just a boring fact now here : there are around 2000 tackle shops in the UK every year. HALF! (Yes half) of those go broke each year, yet there is STILL 2000 tackle shops in the UK when counted! I aint going to say what mark up's are because that is a confidential thing. The person who had the tackle shop and said that its between 50 and 60% is no longer correct. Its LOWER! now But as i said thats a confidential thing and i aint going to say what it is. All i will say is that if you think there is a lot money in poles then you are serverly wrong and have been mislead if you were told this. Most poles of 1000k or more carry a margain of less than £150. This is common knowledge and most dealers will happily tell about the stupidity of some dealers giving poles away. It wasnt long ago that a Tournament X from Daiwa was getting a margain of £25! in some match shops! Surprisingly its not the mail order companies faults. Its the local match shops in the midlands etc that have there mates go in the shop and practically sell everything for nothing, before they know it they cant pay there latest Daiwa bill or whoever and the bank manager come knocking at there door. Spending figures might look high with manufacturers if you have sold serveral exspensive poles but if you have only made £25 out of each one how are you going to pay for the things when the invoice comes in? The money would of earned more in the bank from the interest! Sorry to rabbit on about this but its a topic that i see time and time again and a before i worked in the trade i was just like you wanted to open my shop. Its certainly an eye opener especially as i would talk to alot of the reps, etc If i were you keep your money in the bank, it will earn alot more. Or invest it in something that is profitable. If after these words you still want to consider it and require more info then feel free to email me at mailto:lb_wood@hotmail.comlb_wood@hotmail.com and i shall help you if i can. Tight lines Lee
  10. couldnt of put it better myself... Excellent advise as 99% of tackle thefts are by someone you know.
  11. How much tackle was taken?
  12. and as i typed my previous, he comfirmed his house is secure...LOL
  13. Wouldnt it just be cheaper to put his tackle inside the house? And alot less hassle aswell... Chances are his house is secure well already.
  14. Sorry to hear of your loss. Its blunt, but dont get your hopes up on seeing this gear again. It will either go south or North an end up on car boot sales  . I worked in a tckle shop until this may and we would weekly get 3 or 4 insurance claims. Another annoying thing, is that it will probably be someone that knows you go fishing, and is bound to be very close to where you live. Just a point, dont put tackle in the shed. I have nearly £3000 worth of gear, and its all kept in the house. If that was left in the shed and stolen, i would simply give up fishing, as its took me many years and alot of money to get top of the range stuff. Once again, sorry to hear of your loss.
  15. ZAnyone that stocks Van Den Enyde can get it from there VDE supplier. Its a very good groundbait and also an excellent value paste.
  16. Perhaps i should mention, that my first time fishing at Skanderborg Lake with Magic and Breadcrumb, i fished for 3 hours and ended up with 10 bream and 2 roach. I could of had alot more, but cuz i was using braid as main line i was getting used to its no stretch. I hadnt used Braid for a while.
  17. I tend to use here in Denmark at Skanderborg lake Sensas Magic and Brown cumb about 50 50. Its has a nice smell to it, and is good in the feeder, and mixed right, it can be mixed so it hits the bottom before it comes out of the feeder. Or you can try Bream 3000 and Brown Crumb and Lake 3000 red and Red Crumb. All these i have found very sucessful in the UK before i moved to Denmark, and here in Denmark .
  18. For what its worth, you can try this company which is not related to Abu or Mitchell in any way whatso ever. There name is Reel care. They did spares for all Mitchell reels before they were taking over by Pure fishing. I dont know if they distribute them now, but its worth a shot as Abu are crap for after sales. Reel Care 100, Kendal Avenue Millbrook Southampton Hampshire SO16 9LY Tel. 023 8077 7232 When i worked in a tackle shop in Ipswich, this company was always able to get spares for Mitchell reels that my customers wanted me to order for them. But they do sell the to public aswell.
