  1. Hi DavyR, Yep its for course fishing - I did try the google images method, but must admit - it was time consuming and some sites just show the Kamasan logo B911, that settles it, Thats what ive been using anyway but noticed there were so many different types, thought I would investigate properly! Now to decide whether to tie my own with a Matchman hook tyer, or just buy the Hooks to Nylons! Cheers again Craig
  2. Hello, Im looking to buy some new Kamasan hooks, ebay seems to be the cheapest so far however im getting confused on all the different verieties available etc. Does anyone know if a chart exists that shows the shape of each hook type in the Kamasan range? Regards, Craig

Thanks guys I must admit originally I was going to go for the digital ones! do they only start to mis weigh once the batteries get low? Main reason was for what DavyR Said, you can zero them at anypoint before weighing. I have some of the Avons on watch anyway so will see how they get on

    PB Rudd

Hi All, Had a long weekend on the Macclesfield canal, managed to find a BW owned section and got a few hours in before dinner, only turned up 1 fish however it is now my PB Rudd, in fact, its my biggest fish yet so im quite happy! Caught on an oversized hook as I forgot my smaller ones (d'oh) with a single piece of sweetcorn. Unfortunatly I also forgot groundbait so it was like fishing a needle in a haystack! So im happy that I caught anything at all! Pic attached - thought I would share it with you guys Thanks, Craig
  9. Thanks DavyR, Ill try and give those tackle shops a buzz later on today, unfortunatly as I dont know exactly where ill be stopping I wont be able to buy a ticket so looks like I maybe leaving the ol' rod at home Craig
  10. Hi All, Were renting a narrow boat this weekend, Fri - Mon along the Macclesfield canal, I thought it would be a good oppertunity to have a spot of fishing in the evenings ! I know roughly where our scheduled stops will be - between Bridges 68-75, 33-43 and 93-95. Could anyone point me to the correct place where I can find who owns the rights to fish those sections of the canal (want to see if I have to purchase a ticket in advance, or if I can pay on the bank (preferable as I dont know if ill be able to fish every evening). This will also be my first time fishing a canal, any tips? especially for that stretch? Thanks in advance, Craig
  11. Well after all that Im not going to get my bargain baitrunners! aparently 7 days after paying for the items they were stolen from the seller and he has issued a refund Of course, could be true but seems a bit suspicious that they were not posted for 7 days and then they were stolen, maybe they were too much of a bargain! ahh well, Think ill buy the mitchells and keep the anti reverse off!
  12. Hi Budgie - Ill let you know! ill post the models when I receive them! Anyone else had any experiance with Wychwood Baitrunner Reels? Thanks, Craig
  13. Lol Thanks Rusty Just hoping they do the job and not bad reels!... although a chicken dansak sounds pretty good at the minute!
  14. Hi All, Not sure if I just made a mistake but I got a big giddy on ebay! - In my attempt to grab a bargain I just got 2 Wychwood Batrunner Reels - The listing didnt actually give specificatiosn but did say they were in good condition, I figured if it said good for Carp and Pike, it would do for tench and bream? Only paid £11 for 2! Now the question is, is that the worst £11 I spent or will they be ok? I kind of guessed they may be ok as everyone seems to rate their rods etc (They are intended to go on a Wychwood Rogue Barbel) - Maybe I should have waited for the others to finish, but in my attempt to save a few pennies I bit the bullet and thought sometimes the poorly described bargains on ebay get away! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT Any advice welcome, even if its a "you wasted your money!"
  15. Cheers Budgie, I think ill stick with the Mitchell Avocet 2 silver 6000R in that case and use it how you said Thanks again, Craig
  16. Thanks Budgie If I leave the anti-reverse off one of my current reels, obviously ill have to switch it backon before striking, would that impact the reel at all in terms of damaging it? or is it ok to do so? Cheers, Craig
  17. Thanks Budgie If I plan on using a Polaris sidewinder, would it work with a baitrunner? as soon as you strike and start reeling in, does it disengage the baitrunner facility automatically? Thanks again for your help, Craig
  18. Thanks Guys, Will keep a lookout, as a general interest though, what are those reels like i posted above, if im not able to get a Shimano within the timescale I need to, which one would be the best, would they be ok (obviously not as good as the second have Shimano) Is it worth having the baitrunner facility on them ? Should I then go for the Mitchell? Thanks again, all your input is much appreciated - one massive learning curve at the moment Craig
  19. Hi All, Just purchased (waiting for delivery) of a Wychwood Rogue Barbel 1.75 tc - Aiming to use it to ledger for tench/bream (maybe with a polaris sidewinder) and ocasional river fishing. I have been looking at Reels and cant decide which one.... I did have an older post regarding the rod (apologies I cant find it!) and someone mentioned that I should in possible have a baitrunner facility in the reel to stop the reel from being pulled in, or leave the bail arm open (in which case I couldnt use the sidewinder) Im on a bit of a tight budget, I was originally going to go for a Mitchell Avocet 2 6000 Rear drag reel, however have found some reels which I believe may have baitrunner facilities (is Freespool the same but a different name?) The choices I have found are: Awa Shima Craig Neil Black Bull Shakespear Cypry Freespool How would you rate the reels above? is the baitrunner faciltiy any good on those reels? or should I stick with my original choice of the micthel and not have the baitrunner facility? Ive found all 3 reels for approx £20 - £23 - Can I still use a baitrunner on the river (ie can you turn the baitrunner facility off?) Or alternativly are there any other options? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks in advance Craig
  20. Hi All, Thought I would share this App too ! - Its free and it can be used for fish identification (Although its very basic, it does help someone new to the hobby like me!) Its called "FishID" Takes you through some questions about your catch then gives you the % chance of what type of fish it is, also has some handy information and tips on where to look for the fish and how to catch it! Craig
  21. If I would have seen that website sooner, I would have started fishing a LONG time ago
  22. Didnt you express a few expletives at the ducks as well stooby? haha
  23. Unfortunatly too good to be true Asked the seller via ebay and they have confirmed they are lead shots
  24. I think I have seen them in our local Tescos, although it is a large tesco extra shop so maybe thats why?
  25. You mean it would actually work? - Then that would be the first time ive actually been able to give some advice back to another member on AN!
