  4. It's not the waters which I dislike it's the people who run/own them who, generally, are only in it for one thing - and that isn't the welfare of the fish they put in them.....

Any ideas as to what the best alternative feather is to use when tying up the old spider pattern? Cheers.
  6. I'm posting this here as most of the Fly Fishing devotees seem to post here as well.... If, like me, you've struggled to justify fishing in the past when questioned as to whether the sport is cruel, you might like to buy a copy of this months Trout and Salmon magazine. There's a very good article reasoning why fish probably don't feel pain written by an American Professor, James D. Rose. Now I don't know much about the subject or how much those who do know about it agree with the Prof. but it made very enlightening reading for me and will give me good ammunition for the future. Alternatively, if you don't want to buy a 'Fluff Chuckers' magazine you could, of course, become one of those annoying people and read the magazines in W.H.Smiths during lunchtimes stopping us getting to them......

A woman stopped by unannounced at her recently married son's house. She rang the doorbell and walked in. She was shocked to see her daughter-in-law lying on the couch, totally naked. Soft music was playing, and the aroma of perfume filled the room. "What are you doing?" she asked. "I'm waiting for my husband to come home from work," the daughter-in-law answered. "But you're naked!" the mother-in-law exclaimed. "This is my love dress," the daughter-in-law explained. "Love dress?" "My husband loves me to wear this dress," she explained. "It excites him to no end. Everytime he sees me in this dress, he instantly becomes romantic and ravages me for hours on end. He can't get enough of me." The mother-in-law left. When she got home, she undressed, showered, put on her best perfume, dimmed the lights, put on a romantic CD, and laid on the couch waiting for her husband to arrive. Finally, her husband came home. He walked in and saw her laying there so provocatively. "What are you doing?" he asked. "This is my love dress," she whispered, sensually. "Needs ironing," he said. "What's for dinner?
  11. Funny that Chris.....I thought exactly the same thing.
  12. This poor guy was minding his own business & he felt an eye irritation. Thinking that it was just regular dust, he started to rub his eye, in an effort to remove the dust. Then his eyes got really red, so he bought some eye drops from the pharmacy. A few days passed and his eyes were still red and seemed a little swollen. Again he dismissed it as dust & continued rubbing, hoping it would go away. As the days went by, the swelling of his eye got worse & the redness increased until he decided to go and see a doctor for a check up. The doctor immediately wanted an operation, being afraid of a tumor growth or cyst. At the operation, what was thought to be a growth or cyst, actually turned out to be a ........................

  15. I'm struggling with a couple of these.....  THE BLANKS IN THIS STORY ARE NAMES OF ENGLISH, SCOTTISH OR WELSH FOOTBALL TEAMS. FOLLOWING THE CLUES GIVEN, FILL IN THE BLANKS. The sun shone _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ the day we set sail for the _ _ _ _ _ _ aboard an ancient wooden ship with a _ _ _ _ riddled with holes and a _ _ _ _ _ of Scots, Welsh and others of the _ _ _ _ _ _ race. They were a rowdy bunch and did in fact _ _ _ _ _ _ _ furniture after a heavy drinking session. The exception was the cabin boy whose job was to _ _ _ _ _ the boilers. He won our _ _ _ _ _ _ with his endeavours to overcome his learning difficulties by practising his _ _ _ _ _ _ _ alone, as if being sent to _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ . On the whole the sea _ _ _ was good for the family and the break did my _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ as she had not had a good holiday _ _ _ _ _ _ too long, it certainly did her _ _ _ _ _ _ _ lot of good. At last we docked at the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ which had just been built and at once headed straight for the residence of Hawaii's monarch, the fabled _ _ _ _ _ _ _ , _ _ _ _ _ _ which was looked after by the forest _ _ _ _ _ _ _ dressed in blue. They greeted us with the a friendly _ _ _ _ _. We saw the hills where the _ _ _ _ _ _ still roam free and the natives _ _ _ _ their dead. For tea each night we had _ _ _ _ _ _ cake, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ buns and some _ _ _ _ _ _ which we left alone. We returned home to find that we had had a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ because someone hadn't left the _ _ _ _ _ _ the door. Someone must have disturbed the thief because he had left the _ _ _ _ _ the table. We went out for some bread and found that the baker had left his bike leaning on the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ . On our way home we saw Jack _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ who was exercising his dogs on the field. He was preparing them for the greyhound _ _ _ _ _ but they were all on _ _ _ _ _. We went across to join him but the grass was so slippery my son fell on his behind and I fell on my _ _ _ _ _ _ _. JUST TO START YOU OFF THE FIRST CLUE IS BRIGHTON........
