  15. Cheers Elton ,i didn't know that was Shimano's trade mark i was always wondering why other reels used names such as ,Feeder Reel etc etc .
  16. I'm looking at getting two new Baiterunners for x-mas(or one depending on price),I've got 130pounds so far i really like the Shimano 10000 XTE as i haven't had any faults with my previous Shimano's,But i really like the the sound of the okuma(Plus i could buy 2 and have matching reels lol) but there is quite a few of them and i was just wondering Wat is supposedly the best one?I don't want/require a big pit spool but a spare spool is essential. Cheers chris.
  17. Just to go fishing,i actually prefer to fish in the water as the banks are not as busy and i find it more rewarding.
  18. Not fished there stretch of the Dee but my Brother has don't think he had much of there stretch,I've personally fished there stretch of the Dane more chub/small stuff than barbel and to be truthfully it's OK but there is alot better stretches of the Dane,I've fished there stretches of the Ribble a few times, apart from the Idiots that it attracts it's got some great sport to offerr, and is Very very snaggy and very hard to hold a led if slightly up also a pair of chest waders will come in handy on certain pegs. Hopr thats of some help.
  19. Hared about it on the Lym web sight and the river Croco runs into it at Croxton Lane.Hope fully the rain we have had will keep the pollution from traveling up stream.
  20. Does anyone have any details of how disasters the pollution on the Dane is?Or how the E.A plan on re-stocking the river?if it's had any nock on effects to any of it's tributes? All I've hared is Everything is dead for at least half a mile from the River Croco.
  21. Yeah i will agree with SLUK Halsneed(Biggies) is a good lake, fished it since i was about 6 ,as already said good head of tench ,only problem is the litter and the pricks that fish it,years ago it used to be one of the best fisheries in the northwest until it went day ticket.
  22. My first Barbel (caught 7 that day all about 5-7lb). My first and only double fig Pike (13lb) My first double Carp(13lb) caught about 10-9 years ago at cudmore ,landed it on 3lb line and a little match picker feeder rod.
  23. Nice fish ,but you wouldn't catch me in water holding a fish with a mouth like that lol.
  24. Depending on conditions and the River fishing etc i use 10lb(8lb bottom/main depending on conditions)Mono (Maxima) for big River far bank fishing such as the severn. With a Porky Pig feeder rod. 8lb(with a 5lb bottom depending on conditions)(Maxima) Mono for close in fishing on a big River with a Harison Interceptor Avon Rod. 8lb Mono(Maxima)fishing on small Rivers such as the Dane sometimes with a 5lb bottom(winter fishing etc) I haven't been smashed on a river in years, apart from when fishing for chub with a stick float on 3lb line and a Barbel decides to take my baite lol. 25. My son did that once and took it all down and started over again. He was a bit miffed when I pointed out that all that was necessary was to remove the spool, open the bale arm and then put the spool back on. Must admit i did that a few times a nipper. As for the original question, always set up on the bank.Usually thats ware and when i decide Wat peg to fish/method of fishing.Sometimes set up at the Car/Van when stalking.
