I would think any type float rod would do,or feeder rod,it all depends on the lines you are going to be using, If your only using fine lines,i personally would use a soft action waggler rod,and the same with feeder fishing,a light feeder. It's all down to personal choices. Jem

Does anyone fish the open matches on this fishery? I used to do a lot of match fishing,had to stop due to ill health,but i now have the urge to start fishing them again. I have enquired as to how much they are to fish and they are quite reasonable (open matches £15).What i would like to know is what sort of tactics i would need to employ on such a prolific venue. I fish it a lot pleasure fishing,but i know pleasure and match fishing are totally different,so any tips would be most welcome. Jem

These things need culling,they are decimating the fisheries,ruining our sport,at the rate they are multiplying we will have nothing to fish for. I have personally seen a cormorant swallow a 2lb roach on a local fishery,my heart sank when i saw it.The fish must have been over 10yrs old. So i say shoot them all. Jem

Try chopping a load of lobworms and adding them to your groundbait,i find this ideal for tench and then use a cocktail of redworm and maggot or caster. I've done really well with tis on my local water fishing for tench. Jem
