  1. Fished out of Whitby Saturday22nd on Saxon Lady, in conditions that sorted the men from the boys. Best fish on board was a 17 pound Ling, that nearly didn't make it all the way. We had seen this young seal pup on a few different drifts so he was obviously hoping for a free breakfast, from our dedicated if slightly green crew. When my mate next to me hooked and struggled with a decent fish Sammy must have thought it was his birthday, there was the Ling wallowing on the surface waiting to be lifted on board when up pops Sammy, jaws gaping, the fish nearly leapt into the boat in fright, so all Sammy got was the last few inches of tail. It made a change from my last encounter when the score was Sammy 2 (8 pound codlings) me 0. No doubt the contest will continue, watch this space.
  2. Don't see much chance of fishing for a day or two, given the state of the sea up here at the mo, see http://www.elsom-cook.com/longsands/index.pl Might settle by monday but will be mucky, see you Tuesday Paul cheers Dave
  3. Yet another example of Rip Off Britain, the thieving *******. WXtide used to be freely available in the UK until HMG withdrew the use of information needed to forward plot locations. Now they have the audacity to charge us for what we have paid for already. Makes me ashamed to be British.
  4. Look on the bright side big_cod there is another 12 days to go and the tides start dropping off after thursday. BTW what is your boats name? dave
