  1. Thanks Davey B, Have don't the link. Also added the Albino Badger on. What a sighting, eh? lol. Cheers
  2. Posted my 8lb 12oz bass from Dengemarsh on this forum 3 weeks ago. Took two forum m8's Davey B and Steve there to try it again. Davey B had a screaming run and landed a 7lb 2oz bass from the same spot. Just updated my website with the photos and write-up at http://www.shorefishingadventure.co.uk Cheers and well done Dave. Yu wanna proof read it mate ? Hope you had a great time last night. lol.
  3. Hey, Went fishing last night with Davey B and Steve. Steve lent me his MFA LED clip lights. EXCELLENT !The whole rod lights up esp the rings. And the batteries will probably last the whole winter, fishing 1 night a week. Now I will have to beg, borrow or something to get one. lol
  4. Anyone read the chapter on Dungeness - The fishing of Dungeness written by Leslie Moncrieff. Which book is it in ? I would like to have a read. Is it on the net? Cheers, Andy
  5. Anytime Davey, mate. But never been to Kingsdown. Its a lost tackle dump, unless u know where to fish I heard. Bassin' no problem. I was 10 mins away from where u were, inclu traffic jams, lol. Tell me when - E-mail me, ok? Still chance for a bigger specimum. Anxiously waiting for the right time to try for double figure cod this season. Suspect big cod hunts the same gulleys as big bass on the shore.
  6. Thanks Davey B for the snips. Nice smuts. I'm also in London. What's the London Wreking Krew ? Cos it's a bit lonely at times travelling to fish, m8.
  7. Yep Spasor, I enjoy myself everytime I can go shorefish. It's the hope of hooking a fish in the waves that pulls line off the reel that keeps me on. 600lb shark don't thrill me. Unless it's from the shore, if I can happen to land it,lol. 3lb sole is what I can only dream of these days, from the shore. It's the thrill of standing on land and battling big fish that does it for me, not competitions with ppl against ppl. Had a lot of large specimens on freshwater back in Malaysia those days. Even had a 23lb Toman (snakehead) pull my toy inflatable round a large lake for over an hour before I could land it when i hooked it on my 1 pc 5ft uglystick ultralight spinning rod on 6 lb bs line and abu cardinal 2 back in 1983. That's when I realised that it's a real nice feeling to fight a fish on quality tools. Had a countless 'Night' sea fishing boat trips too, lots of 20 lb groupers and menacing barracuda, as my mate own a special charter that goes out every weekend. But I turned to be a shore fanatic when I hooked 2 stingrays in Malaysia on the beach in 1983. First one lost after an hour, because I put too much pressure on the line and wasn't patient. Too much line twist using the cheap flimpsy 10 ft (far- east) olympic fibreglass rod and fixed spool reel, with all the winding and line going out again. Got me pi..ed of so much that I imported a 10 ft uglystick and a abu amb ultra XLS III (mag) with 12lb line and learn to cast a bit. Had a lot of birdnests before I managed to cast out far enough to hook my next stingray. And it was as good as what I had been dreaming. Took an hour of pleasure to tease the 25 pounder to the beach. Satisfaction at last after the first one lost. Yes, UK large shore fish are less than 100 yds away if they happen to come in. But there are times that I need to go as far as possible to get the small fish to use as fresh bait for fishing these large ones. No good bait, not much hope. Large bags of small fish will not thrill me or keep me going. It's the hope of catching big ones that keep me going. Might try Selsey next time for Smoothhounds, lol.
  8. Thanks Spasor, Will do that. V formation on backing. Will see how it goes when I next have a fluff at the end of my cast. Probably evn cuts out the fluff, as the spool will slow down much more with the line concentration in the middle at that point. It's too difficult sometimes spasor, esp when I come across empty abu reel boxes thrown on the parking area of Dengemarsh. Obviously new people that take up angling. These people needs edu..ka..tin'. Not e nuff of that around. Only moaners, lol. Thanks.
  9. Well, Have we seriously asked the question why we 'angler's' are being picked on ? Could be for example :- 'Anglers' are often classified as litter bugs? I am ashamed when I fish places and notice litter that can only be left behind by the last person/s who fished there. But the culprits are 'normally anglers that don't fish often' . 2 rods between 5 people ? Or first few times. Normally ppl out for a laugh scenerio, huh? Therefore, they haven't the faintest idea what littering does to the the enviourment and the name of our sport ? Even in remote and isolated places like Dengemarsh beach !!!!!!!! Sad and infuriating for us sad campaigners. How about a campaign among 'all tackle shops' to remind everyone that purchase baits to go fishing, esp. new faces, 'Not to be Litter Bugs' . Idea for the angling press etc? How about us cleaning up our image and promote ourselves to be seen as 'nice, friendly decent people with clean habits who care tremendously for the future of the enviourment and ecology' ? Originally quoted by Jim Roper quote: The Dorset coast warden/officer, or whatever his title is, decided that all the anglers and their vehicles on the stretch of beach between Abbotsbury and West Bexington were visual pollution. He also reckoned that some wild plants like sea kale were being trampled. Why are we considered as visual polluters and killers of wild plants? Is it because of a few individuals that go about damaging the name 'angler's' by acting and behaving irresponsibly ? The Dorset region's economy depends a lot on tourism. Fishing is a part of their promotion to bring in the tourist. They will be interested to listen to suggestions of having a parking bay, so that anglers and tourist can park at that area in an orderly manner. As long as we anglers are seen as acceptable folks in their eyes. For 2 years I have lived and worked in Guernsey, Channel Islands. Angling is still being promoted to bring in tourist. Annual Guernsey Bass Competition, etc. If angling was seen to be bad, they would not let it happen on an island which is clean and rich in fauna, and well protected by the authoriries.
  10. Yes !!!! That's what I mean ! Educate all those people that are angling or are about to take up angling. Tell them/show them what is the right ethics to follow. 'Anglers' are often classified as litter bugs. I am ashamed when I fish places and notice litter that can only be left behind by the last person/s who fished there. But the culprits are 'normally anglers that don't fish often' . 2 rods between 5 people ? Or first few times. Normally ppl out for a laugh scenerio, huh? 11. Yes, At least lets all concentrate on anti pollution, anti gill-netting, or anti something useful, instead of the ridiculous idea of anti angling. Barking up the wrong tree.
  12. tj, I am not easily offended, lol. But I stand for what i believe. And to carry out with what I said before, I am completely ignoring what you are trying to start with me. Just hope my action here will be followed by my peers, and concentrate on the important things at hand, such as fish conservation and nets as such. Ignore those that have nothing better to do wth their time and their lives. Enough said.
  13. Yeah, need to know myself too. I have decided to fix flourescent tape on my rod tips. Need a nice varnish to paint over it to keep it permanent. Any help ppl?
  14. Amen !!!!! to that, everyone. Nuff said. Let's get back to helping each other with our angling on the forums.
  15. I don't think the anti's would be seen to have achieved anything if our chosen sport is constantly being taken up as thier hobby by more and more people, eh ? The growth of our sport has been tremendous in the last 10 years or so. Thanks to those that have worked so hard on the forefront, esp the angling press, match anglers and legendary gurus, who have been inspirational in their ways in promoting the healthy image of angling. These are the people who leads the way for others to follow on how this sport should be pursued. As long as they keep on with educating every angler about the acceptable ethics of this sport, and show that it is a fun and healthy thing to do, and keeps coming up with new methods, new concepts and equipment, the angling industry will be thriving. And so will our sport. As long as we take care of our fish stock, there will always be people like us longing to fish. And more will take up the sport too, if all us anglers start encouraging young un's to start early. Takes the youngsters off the street and educate them that if they want the best in angling, or in life, they have to complete their education, get a good job to get it. There's too many of us anglers in all corners of the UK, in all walks of life; that no government would even dream of banning us from picking up a rod. Are they willing to spend the time, or do they have the resources and manpower to carry out and instill the ban? What? A criminal because I like to spend some quality time with my children playing at catching fish? My way of thinking is to ignore all these threats and stop wasting time spoiling for a fight. That is playing into their game of trying to disrupt our sport. Just be calm and don't waste your time spoiling for a fight. Instead, concentrate on issues of fish stock, and promoting the good image of what real angling is all about. Maybe pick up a rod and go fishing, if you have forgoten what it feels like. Is a pleasurable experience, and even if we are not fishing, we are still dreaming of it. It helps to keep some of us going from day to day.

  17. Just about to strip off the line from both my reels. A matter of thought. What diameter of line you guys fish with on your Mag Elites 65's ? I have 3 rolls right in front of me, and wonder which to put on. 0.30, 0.35 or 0.40 ? I found that even the 0.35 mm line can sometimes get trapped in the gap between the spool and the reel housing, esp. if there's some loose coils after a cast. More pronounced in the 0.30 mm, but handy for casting further esp. in strong winds. No problem with 0.40 mm but distance suffers. Face this question everythime I need to change the line. I normally fish quite clean shingle beaches. Cheers.
  18. Yur going great guns mate. I did a lot of learning to fish thru the net. I mean, getting it right before driving all the way there to drown my worms. Still continuing on with my research to keep up to date. Big Bass nowadays are like scavengers. They are lazy compare to schoolies that have to fight among themselves for pittence. They tend to feed on easy prey like those unwanted dead fish that anglers throw back into the sea. Hint hint ! They have a pattern of coming in with the tide when these free meal gets washed out. They travel on a regular route, feeding as they go along, and go back out on almost the same route as the tide goes out. Check the venue where all the dead fish can be as the tide start coming in. That's where you can ambushed them. And they are always closed to features eg. jetties or outflow drains. Use a whole freshly killed small fish, eg whiting, mackerel head, pouting, or even a whole calamari squid, on large 3/0 or 4/0 hooks. 2 ft snood length is adequate, else get tangled and loose fish. 2 hrs before HT till 2 hrs after, I imagine. Happy thrills,
  19. LOL Westerley, Quote : quote: and I would never intentionally fish for whiting so that's not a problem for me! :-) When I go Codding in Dungeness, the whiting will commit suicide on your hooks if you're not watching your rods. Don't want to waste time waiting for a cod, eh? Jim quote: I presume you are expecting lots of bights, so you won't get bored Bites, I take it. If only the d**n suicidal whiting would leave my baited hooks alone for a cod to come along. I rather wait to get a solid pull of the rod tip from a cod, then to go through the chore of winding in double hits of whiting, removing them, baiting up and casting out again. Just leave my d**n hooks alone you pesky whiting!!! Anyway, the Halsford here in Old Kent Road have not stocked this tape before. But digging through my bit box, I found a roll of luminous tape from a tackle shop 3 yrs back that I forgot about. Just did up my Daiwa 13'Interline Surf rod which I use for Bass, and it actually shows up well when I turn off the lights. Will now be getting another roll for my trusty Nemesis Plus, and maybe a coat or two of clear varnish will keep it a permanent fixture on the rods.
  20. quote quote: Throw in standard coarse fisherman's electronic bite detector (working off AA batteries) that slips around (rather than hooks onto) the main line and you have a perfect system that does not give weedy / tidal false alarms Wonder which one is suitable cos I have not come across one that gives an indication to the whiting bite. Normally the rod tip takes the tension of the bite, so no line goes outfrom the spool. Anything would be blessing to have a break from straining the neck and screwing up the eyes. I guess night Cod anglers tend to have a perpetual squinty-eye stiff-neck posture. LOL
  21. Thanks DaveyB, Halfords here I come tommorow. Just next to the McDonalds where my kids get their Happymeal here in OLD KENT ROAD, London. Cheers Guys !
  22. DaveyB' What do Halfords stock these tape for ? Does it come in a roll, like those electrical insulating tape? Glad for the info, cos' I lost 2 tip lights while casting a few years back, so having a problem at the moment, watching it, even while using a headlamp. Information most appreciated. Cheers, Andrew
  23. Just wonder do you guys do to be able to watch the rod tip during your night shorefishing sessions. I'mm trying to decide on what's the best for me. Tip lights or anything better ? I would like to learn how u guys go about it. Thanks, Andrew Thong
  24. Hi Cranfield, Thanks for the Fishing Report on Last week. I was trying for sole at high tide heh heh. Wrong move I guess. At least now I know it's on low tide that I should be fishing for those tasty plate-sized soles. Cheers. quote: He said that other anglers had a 6lb bass to whole squid (not fishing for sole ). This angler was fishing to my left on the same tide on Thursday 29-08-02. I got mine at 1 hr before High tide and he got his 1 hr after high tide. We met in the morning at 11 am when I was leaving and I gave him the rest of my lugworms that I have left over. Mentioned he had a bass over 9lbs last year around September. Yes, he was not after soles, I am certain.
  25. Thanks Alan, I'll check Dover SAC. I'll try to get a link from here to my site again. Practise makes perfect I guess, lol. Here goes ----> Link to Andrew's Shorefishing Website Beam me up Scooty....heh heh.
