  1. Jammy so and so Mine have been getting smaller!! I managed to get my first goldie of the year this morning (Phil - you were right about that outfall at Havre Des Pas Reclamation). Had non- stop bites for three hours and was amazed that I only managed to land 2, both under 2lb though.
  2. Hey Graham, I'm in the same boat mate - 5 hours of total boredom this evening, with just one bite to show for it.......the tan is coming along nicely though I'm looking forward to this Mullet on the fly lark.....The emails I've had from Keith have got me foaming at the mouth!!!
  3. I had a report in this morning from Keith, that writes the "Mullet on the fly" pages for my website. He had a total of 19 on this morning's tide - the biggest was 8lb!!!!
  4. Make that 9 ......had another one Sunday, only 1lb 10oz but a goood little scapper, and a 2lb 5oz one last night - this one decided to do a tarpon impression and was leaping clear of the water when it was first hooked. I'd also forgotten the landing net (I'd left it out to dry on the balcony @ home), so I had to play it out till it was exhausted and then tail it!
  5. Well done mate. I'm off work tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be fishing at 5am....i'll keep you posted with how it goes
  6. Leon has just telephoned, and has asked that I post a message about the NMC fish in, at Sun Pier yesterday. Seemingly one of the new guys landed a lunker Mullet - 6lb 9oz's worth!!! The event went well, even though the weather a bit poor. Leon's PC has been taken ill suddenly, , but he's currently working on it, and he should be back with us shortly
  7. Very nice.......haven't caught any mullet big enough to really give my Nick Buss rod a good try out yet..... The early season 3.5lber gave it a bit of stick though Paul
  8. Phew, it finally sold for £122!!! Far too rich for my blood!!
  9. I fished today too - Wind southwest, with a tiny little neap tide which I fished over the high in no more than 15 feet of water. Saw LOADS of big mullet in the 3 - 4lb range, swimming about in groups of 4 or so.....unfortunately they were in one of those "nose it and leave it" moods....had a few bites but I somehow managed to miss all of them I tried all the tricks in the book, even freelining with a dropper, but they just weren't having any of it. I think I managed to used just about every explenative I could think off during the course of the session....would have been nice to have had one on the new 'pin though
  10. Still a bit hit and miss here too, I'm still after no.4 for this year. Still haven't managed anything bigger than my first of the season yet though, with my favourite "big fish" swim only producing 1.5/2.5lb fish. Some days I'm getting non stop bites, other days only a the odd bite here and there....very frustrating. Things are looking good for this weekend though, especially with a full 1 degree jump in the sea temperature overnight last night. I'm busting to get out and try the new centrepin too!! In the meantime i'll have to keep myself occupied finishing off reading Graham's "Esox Panic" article!! Anyway, I'm still biting my nails, waiting for Leon to trounce us all with his first catch.....another whopper no doubt!!

Well, I managed my second this morning, not as big as the first though - 1lb 15oz. Took a long time coming though, 3 hours worth of groundbaiting before the first series of bites. I was furious with myself for missing some great bites, and thought it was going to turn into a blank session. Anyone else had any luck yet? Paul Jersey Mullet Fishing
  14. Same situation here really...after landing my first one a week ago the weather has taken a turn for the worst (albeit that the sea temp is still on the rise), which seems to have put the fish off the feed. I fished Thurs, Friday, Saturday and last night, and didn't even get a sniff. I haven't had any other reports of Mullet being had, other than Keith landing a few on fly gear. The Bass are starting to show in good numbers. My work colleague from Guernsey was over here yesterday, and he had seen a chap who'd landed 16 of them in total!! Here's looking forward to a spell of warmer settled weather!! Paul Jersey Mullet Fishing
  15. If you check out SA's discussion board, it looks like they're already getting plenty of grief from disgruntled readers!!

Well done, a fish is a fish!!! I couldn't resist having another bash tonight. The sea temp was up again, and the wind had dropped completely.....didn't get a single nibble though. Paul

Interestingly it was the higest sea temp this year so far too, as opposed to a day when it's dropped slightly. Unusally for me, I'd fished the last hour of the ebb and for about half an hour after the tide started to flood. I had bites the whole time though, although I initially suspected they might be smelt or something similarly pesky, after the umteenth missed bite.....the old "cobra strike" must have got a bit rusty over the winter I only finally hooked into it after the umteenth, "this is my last cast" casts, !!

I managed to land my first one tonight, 3lb 9oz thick lipped. Caught on the usual breadflake floatfished. Sea temperature at the time was 10.9 degrees.. Anyone else had any luck yet?

Well after returning from a scorching week in the sun in Asterdam, I have to admit I was a little disappointed to see that it's still fairly cool here at home - I was hoping to come back and find plenty of reports of mullet being had. I know Keith has had a few on flies locally, but I haven't heard of any falling to baited hooks yet.

Pretty much the same story here Leon. The sea temperature today is the highest it has been this year (apart from just after the solstice) at 10.1. I couldn't resist a session this morning though...no sign of any Mullet, with only a very small bass showing up . Paul

Graham, the new rod is gorgeous, i'm just chomping at the bit to get an early season mullet on it!! I had a some good fun with some of the local pollock on it though, and I think it'll be good fun with a good mullet on it! New Rod Pics (bottom of the page) I was hoping to get out this weekend but haven't had chance, but now that the clocks have gone forward, an after work session might be on the cards this week, especially if the water warms up a bit - currently averaging out at 9.1 for the past few days.
  22. Haven't had much else on the island - a few pollock from Bouley bay when I was testing the new mullet rod out, and had a blank session plugging at La Rocque, otherwise it's been pretty quiet!!

The same thing happened down here in Jersey a couple of Sunday's ago.....luckily I had my video camera to hand, and the video is now on the website. I too couldn't believe the number of them, it was amazing!! I came down shortly afterwards and fished but no sign of the shoal and no bites after 4 hours of fishing - presumably the sea temperature was still too cold to get them on the feed (8.2 degrees at the time). The sea temp has really picked up in the past few days though (9.5 today), so no points for guessing where I'll be this weekend!!! Jersey Mullet Fishing
