  1. I have used Fox, they were solid, currently using Greys , they are solid and well built. Don't know who makes the best rods! there are too many to choose from.
  2. Anyone had a good session in the wet weather ?
  3. Its not big bucks for a syndicate , but its big bucks compared to what I have paid in the past ! It did come across a as a well run.
  4. If they sold I would probably put the cash towards one of the following : Greys landing net,fox txr set or attx set, bedchair, Jim
  5. try using smaller hooks , lighter line , pin it all down.
  6. Pete. thanks for the info. They seem to get good write ups and reviews.

When I was a young lad , approx 15, I did most of study for exams on the riverbanks in West Cork fishing for trout. I was sitting quietly near a fellen tree and I watched a fox walk across this fallen tree to get to the other side of the river.
  8. Hi I have 2 x Greys Deadbait rods that I do not use. I would like to swap ? Anthing considered , within reason !
  9. Thats fishing I am afraid ! Nice catch by your fellow angler. watch to see are they baiting spots heavily with spods or using small pva bags, method feeders , etc. Maybe the fish respond to heavily baited areas.
  10. Hi Pete, can you set them to either vibrate or sound ? Do they have their own sound or does the sound of the alarm transmit ?
  11. are the other anglers catchimg consistently ? what rigs are they using ? Are your hooks too big , line too heavy ? Are there some swims that are "hot"?
  12. There is bound to be a much lower stocking of the large fish, the other lake where you are catching loads of 1 - 10lb carp sounds like a match lake that is very well stocked. Is the ither lake much bigger ?
  13. I am surprised that luncheon meat doesn't work , to me it always attracts fish no matter what size, its a top bait , pepparami is also a great bait , it'll stay on the hook for days ! smells nice and can be dipped with flavours etc. Boilies ? , try to find out what is currently being used by anglers, unfortunately some of them will be very secretive . There is no easy answer here, what is the size of the lake, level of stocking ,how pressured is the water ?, are they old and wise fish ? the list goes on and on. Big fish are harder to catch than small ones ! They are cleverer ie.ythey have been around longer.
  14. Has anyone added either the Fox TXR plus or the ATTX system to their alarms ? I have some delkims but the are not txi's and they are still as good as new, don't want to replace them. A . it would be too expensive and B. I like them. So I am thinking of getting either the Fox or the ATTX system to enable me to use them with a wireless remote. I realise that the Fox set has wires that plug into the alarms and then into the sender. Any members used or are using these ? Do the batteries last long ?
  15. agreed, there is nothing worse than when your tackle lets you down , especially if you knew it was on its way out ,but did nothing about it. Line very important.
  16. I imagine that loads of members have bait boats on this forum. Maybe not a Lakestar though. I have a bait boat , do I take it that some members do not like or advocate the use bait boats ?
  17. Of course not ,a fish that picks up a bait doesn't know whether you have a £9.99 rod/reel or a £250.00 rod/reel. It is immaterial , however sometimes you do need more expensive gear to tackle in certain situations ie . 160 yd cast intead of a 30yd lob. Many of those guys are sponsered so don't pay for their gear, I bet they sell stuff they don't need to fund other tackle as well. I suppose most anglers like many other hobbyists start to upgrade their gear when they start to fish more or feel they need to have better quality tackle. We see desirable pices of kit and think, I'll get a set of them , I need that ! It looks good! Think about cars , they are the same, yes I'd like a Ferrari but drive a Citroen. It still gets me from place to place. Also as we get older, the kids grow up and leave home I suppose we have more disposable income to play with. I hope so !
  18. it certainly got colder today, maybe we are going to have a cold snap !
  19. thats a good idea, lot cheaper than some of the sweet flavourings for sale in tackle shops. When you say you used all boilies , you mean any flavour boilies that you had ?
  20. you could well be right , the costs of bait sprays and dips etc are so expensive , they could all be a waste of money !
  21. My mate told me how warm those sleep skins are ,I though that he was exaggerating , you don't realise how warm they are until you wear one. I have never felt the cold whilst wearing them, we fished in France, - 4, this year, they are superb.
  22. I did have one for a night and then another one for another night ( see earlier post ! ) ,my bedchair is a JRC one and it fitted sideways so you were looking out through the door when laying down. It was a nice cosy bivvy but what I liked was the fitted groundsheet and the zipped mesh , no bugs or mozzies.
  23. yep , its gonna be as low as 1 degree around me in Cambs, get out your sleepskin and thermal bed cover, its finally going to chill a little. Don't forget a cup for the tea, times I've done that !
