  1. Well mate I have to admire your resolve in sticking to your guns!!
  2. Does Tony Blair have cancer?? I've googled it & seems not to be the case?? If that's so chesters, I thought you'd bottomed out but it would appear you have found new depths!! No - I'm not saying this because of my wife's Breast cancer treatment - which was successful (or seems to be thus far) Just a terrible thing to say about anyone!! Be careful what you wish for.
  3. A Single Tomahawk medium - long range cruise missile costs around $1.5 million. Our 6 Nuclear Sub's (+1 always in dock, in rotation for a spare) carry 43 of these each!! And around 38 Spearfish Heavyweight Torpedoes. That's only what they want Joe public to know about!! Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD) seems to be the way. as it stands!! It's not Rifles against Spears anymore!! Re the the Action at Rourke's Drift 22nd - 23rd January 1879. Lead by one John Rouse Merriot Chard lieutenant Royal Engineers, assisted by one Gonville Bromhead, lieutenant Welsh Borderers.
  4. Will probably cost £3 m a day/week in running costs
  5. Clearly a typo in the Title - the headline when opened does actually say 3 bn.
  6. My Dad did try to join up, however his Mam forbade it!! When he left school he learned to be a French Polisher, which then went into making Rifle Butts. She then made him go into the Railway - a Reserved occupation. She had already lost one son who was killed by a land mine on the Burma road, & another son who survived as a Japanese POW. Thank God he was Killed & not taken by the Japs like our Jack was her reaction to the News of his death. I have since been on the war graves commission site & found my Uncle Leslie's resting place - In Burma (now Mayan Mar) or at least the plaque that marks his passing.
  7. Bacon & Eggs on the shovel as well ?? My Dad was a footplateman during WW2. Our Bomber Pilots often followed the tracks to get home but there were often some scary moments wondering if they were ours. It was reckoned one could tell by the drone of the engines whether the planes were Bomb Laden - German or our boys returning!!
  8. Cory, I may have given the slightly wrong impression there. Race Horses are fed Oats & Molasses near race days & Horse Nuts (Processed Horse feed) at other times + Grass & Hay when turned out into the field. Ponies & Riding horses are almost Never fed Oats, which contains too much Energy for them.
  9. I haven't clicked on the above Vid' Ken, but yes it's not hard to work out that the grooming of children is a very Lucrative Industry. Just like Ted Heath's Rent Boys (which his close colleagues at the time, knew all about) Whatever went off on "Morning Cloud" is anybody's Guess!! (But he always came back to dry land with a smile on his face!!)
  10. Local Authorities, Schools & Police can't be there all the time. The primary source of educating kids about the dangers, Initially starts with Good Parenting surely!! My parents would give me scenarios like "I'm a policeman - Your Mam's been taken to Hospital, get in the car & I'll take you". Or "Want to see some Puppies??" Run away, get home. & watch the road!! One of the very worst Ideas I've seen is a child having their Name emblazoned on a Tee Shirt!! The perfect Intro' for a Stranger!!
  11. Current affairs programs Like the News, Question Time & the like refer to Black people people as Black!! Apparently the word Coloured is now not acceptable - Coloured, was considered?? more polite back in the day - Now it is not!! Various Central & Local Government application forms also ask questions re ethnicity & colour - White British, Black British, Asian British or other?? If other, please enter in the box below the form says!!
  12. Not going till October mate, 4 or 5 hours a day just wetting a line - gets one away from the wife for a bit!!
  13. Were staying in Porec Phone, & intent to do some Light Rock, Beach fishing. Doubt I'll be doing rivers but will see?? PS Thanks for the "Heads Up" Ken.

Thanks chesters - they are only risking their own lives after all.

Thanks Ken & yes I'm clearly behind the times with that, though the female elders over here still hold sway - (or so they'd like to think!!) Security & Safety for all should still be paramount. (Airport & Driving) with NO exceptions for religious beliefs!! If I have to take my shoes off when going through airport security - then it's burka off too!! (Can Sikhs still ride a motorbike without a crash helmet??)

A Muslim Male colleague of mine, who is no longer with us told me that the Burka was almost NEVER seen to be worn in his native country - India. He said the main reason that young women wore them over here was because of Peer pressure from their female elders. (a bit like the Short Skirt & Revealing Tops thing from our old giffs)
  17. Hey up guys, any one wet a bit of a line in Croatia?? Nothing too serious though just Holiday LRF with 9 foot rods, may take 6 piece 12 foot Carp rod for bigger stuff!! Thanks.
  18. Thoroughbreds eat oats bud - might be why you missed your way??
  19. Thanks Paul, most appreciated & will reciprocate if I get any info' at my end. (I have one or two given now & again)
  20. Well one good thing (Pun Intended) came out of the thread, I managed to touch base with one member who has an interest.
  21. We had two Horses with Paul Felgate in the 90's. Highborn & Double Splendour. They Won a dozen or so races apiece & placed many times. We had some great days out, one of the highlights probably with Highborn winning the Queen Elizabeth All Weather Handicap at Wolverhampton in 1996. (from memory) & being presented with a rose bowl by Her Majesty.(I had £50 to win at 7/1) Both ended up with a rating of 100+ Not bad for horses which cost a mere £3,000 & £4,000 each as unraced 3 yo's.
  22. I'll take you up on that mate if that's ok. Thanks.
  23. I'm not short of grit - Yorkshire or otherwise buddy. Just concerned the Link I posted might compromise my computer?? (I can see what happens when I click the Link at My end which suggests it may??)
  24. So guys & Gal's - who enjoys a flutter on the Horses & other Sports betting?? I do, & would be Interested to hear from like minded members who, would like to share info/Tips etc' & Indeed ask for a dedicated forum just for this.
  25. Will you please take this post down as I can't send the Image I wanted. Or at least my stuff?? Thanks.
