  1. thats nothing DEN my best mate chesters1 doesent exist despite Eltons input twice ,when your alter ego doesent exist then lifes really bad ,even more so when you havent even emicons to play with (sob sob). if i didnt know that chesters1 always posted the truth and never made a fuss ,never moaned ,groaned ,whined whinged or said bad things i would think it was a anti chesters1 plot (halo graphic here) (wink) mind you being a junior member kind of gives me the right to say everything again and probably again (smirk)
  2. and back to you i have minus minutes to waste ,and no emicons to wink with
  3. DING ,your right Ferret ,off to the local model shop tommorrow and i dont mean the ones with the girlies with large bahoonies but one with a chap with a distinctly bad wig and grey sideboards (why dont they notice that bit?)
  4. hailstones are really strange and form the same way (in a manner of speaking) as pearls .little ones are just frozen rain but they can be dragged up and down in the clouds and get more and more layers of ice and can get very large. ice starts to form at 4c (the water "thickens" and the suspended particles of dirt start to get a minute layer of ice) and form a slush if the temperature drops really slowly untill it freezes solid ,a rapid fall of temperature freezes downwards and gives a clear ice ,the warmer temperature below it stops a deep lake freezing completely ,if nature didnt work this way lakes would freeze to the bottom and never thaw out in the summer ,high pressure stops water freezing as well so the ice due to its weight slows freezing beneath it and forms a insulator from the colder temp above it ,an ploy to stop semi tender plants getting burnt by the frost is to wet the leaves as the temp falls thus stopping the drying effect of the frost burning them ,it works but is time consuming. black ice is really clear ice (its black because its on tarmac) and is freezing rain which comes about because the air temperature is warmer than the ground temperature and rain falling on it immediatly freezes (not nice for fat people on honda 90's but still passable) i,v seen this coat everything cars included !. hoar frost i think is frozen mist ,its certainly strange how frost grows even on a dry windscreen ,as ice is water then it must be very minute particles of water that are freezing indeed so it may even be the water vapour thats the humidity bit in everyday life freezing out ,air is far drier in the winter in frosty conditions so i guess its taking the moisture out of the air. i like cold its far more interesting than hot
  5. no not those little ones we make traces out of ,i'm after larger ones about 3mm internal and about an inch long. nope i'm not whale fishing but trying to make replacement "bungee" type rings for my tent. these are just 6" of 3mm bungee cord formed into a ring and the ends crimped together to form the ring (its inserted through the fabric loop of the tent before crimping) and seem to be of aluminium construction. emailed a couple of tent makers but they use 3rd party rings (buying the ready made rings is easy but this means you cannot get them through the loops as the loops are made around the ring) we have tried the alternatives but the rubber ones (infact expensive elastic bands) dont last long and perish quickly and the rest are far too heavy for the use their being used for. any ideas ??? the large ones used for boat rigging are far too heavy as they are designed for steel wire
  6. trouble is it makes AN look like the cheaper end of the forum market (tongue in cheek icon) got no emicons either unlike yourself (huffy icon)
  7. digital kitchen scales as mentioned are great ,being small the fishes correct weight is far more critical than a 40lb carp (they are probably rounded up anyway) the difference between a 2.4 oz gudgeon and a 2.6 oz one could be a club record in most cases. and ofcourse purely mechanical ones suffer from the conditions there used in a 1lb perch in the winter may not be 1lb on a hot summers day due to the temperature the spring is under and other metal contractions or expansions etc hardly noticable with a hefty fish but probably with a small one
  8. having a problem logging in as chesters1 ,got the password recovery sent by email but entering it using chesters1 comes up with an invalid log in name or password error! works fine as you can see as plain old chesters! hopefully the alternate view (anglersnet2) is soon back this is far too glaring for my eyes
  9. PLLLEEEASE fix it ,i'm using I.E (3 times slower than netscape) using netscape the main forum page looks fine but clicking on anything brings up : Parse error: parse error, unexpected ')', expecting ']' in /home/7361/anglersnet/www.anglers-net.co.uk/public_html/forums/cache/skin_cache/cacheid_4/skin_topic.php on line 1139 i going now and hopefully i wont be long i on as plain old chesters (look at my cool joining date) i forgot the silly password and it sent me the chesters one
