  1. Go along with Paul, it would be a boat for me.
  2. Fred Goodluck with the boat, tell us more, open boat? cuddy? I "think" if it's made of GRP your going to need "gel coat" paint wise.....expensive.
  3. oh dear, watch this one go! BTW, kipper [ 23. June 2003, 01:57 PM: Message edited by: aanthony ]
  4. Leon, sadly no letters or consulting with the residents by the powers to be in Lichfield. The speed humps have also been in place for a couple of years. My own experiences would suggest that a group of drivers become preoccupied with avoiding the humps and therefore are not concentrating on the road ahead and the potential dangers from other motorists and pedestrians. Good post BTW
  5. Leon Agree with you entirely, the figures do back you up tremendously. It is deffinately not the case on Weston road in Lichfield though I can assure you. I haven't any exact figures on this stretch of urban road but I would bet with you my mortage that more accidents have occured since the introdution of the traffic calming methods, try and get the records off Staffordshire Police, they will back me up. I have lived near this road for over 20 years and since the humps were introduced there has been numerous accidents and I personaly have had many a near miss due to drivers swerving in an attempt to dodge the said humps. These drivers are not the young "boy racer" type but the mothers on the school run and the older drivers not paying attention to what is comming the other way, beleive me I know through my own nerve shattering experiences. I stick with the assumption that speed does not kill, yes mix speed with poor driving and your heading for disaster, poor driving is the biggest killer.
  6. Ah, speed bumps to slow traffic and so reduce accidents.....TOSH In Lichfield, Staffs the local council decides to introduce two 1m square humps across each urban carriageway at 50m intervals to slow traffic and reduce accidents. (rarely any such accidents???) The result.....more accidents due to bad drivers (driving at new 20mph limit) paying more attention to avoiding speed humps and less attention to on-coming traffic and pedestrians..... FACT! Conclusion, bad drivers kill not speed. [ 21. June 2003, 04:57 AM: Message edited by: aanthony ]
  7. Chris & Nugg, amazing, I was only just looking at those two boats last night. Must say though that Nugg's suggestion seems the better choice.
  8. Great fishing Steve. Nice size fish also, are these typical at your place? Would you let me fish if I promised not to use my SAFE feeder rig? Just read through the web link, great place Steve. [ 21. June 2003, 04:07 AM: Message edited by: aanthony ]
  9. No problem Paul, had me thinking hard as I have fished at Weymouth a few times but counldn't remember posting on the subject.....thought I was losing me marbles!
  10. BTW, the black cone shaped device you guys mention, are you refering to the Breakaway Impact Shield. I've read that some of the "copies" aren't very reliable?
  11. Thanks for the replies guys. Spasor, you lost me on your last post, what's NG?

  14. Wasn't there a bit of a spat between JW and Des Taylor at some point?
  15. Hello all, came over to the sea section to get your opinions again. I'm only an occasional shore angler (usually 3 weeks a year), and my stock rig tends to be a two hook flapper with size 1 or 1/0 Aberdeens. Now I know of clipped-up rigs but I don't use them because of a lack of confidence in them releasing. I'd really like to hear your thoughts on the said rig and as i'm not a great distance caster, would like to know if the clipped rigs would make a big difference? Many thanks
  16. There are places that repair poles aren't there?
  17. In my experience it is the older drivers that drive everywhere at 20-30mph that are the problem on our roads, and to some extent (dare I say) female drivers. It seems to me these group of drivers are the least comfortable being in control of a vehicle. Another bug-bare of mine are the drivers who find it to much of a hassle to indicate at islands and those that pull up to islands and road junctions in the middle of the lane rather than positioning their vehicle according to which direction they intend to take. More often than not these are the type of drivers I mentioned at the start of my post. I don't wish to offend the female and older drivers, it is just my opinion based on my own experiences. Of coarse it is a generalised opinion and do not class all female/older citizens to be bad drivers.
  18. Yeh, nothing wrong with doggies, don't like giving up the hook though do they and them eyes burn straight through ya. Alan, be a good test for the disgorger you sent me next time I visit the coast. [ 17. June 2003, 01:01 AM: Message edited by: aanthony ]
  19. Can't be certain but seem to remember Tenby having easily accessable beaches. You may also find the harbour there ok. hth [ 17. June 2003, 12:53 AM: Message edited by: aanthony ]
