  1. No, I was only there for a few days so didnt take any tackle but I fished a few times in Turkey last year and cant imagine things being any different. Light tackle and bread to catch aquarium style fish, and what looked like mullet but I cant be sure.
  2. There are only two things that smell of fish......and one's fish.
  3. Not many people know that. Not totally useless but they degrade a lot more than a car's brakes in the wet (and a lot of drivers don't seem to realise that they are effectively driving on 'faulty brakes' when it's raining). I must admit that, after a prolonged dry spell, it sometimes gives me a bit of a scare when I squeeze my cycle's brakes and nothing much seems to happen My brakes dont suffer from that problem, and neither do my tyres. MIght I suggest in th interests of safety you try pads (I assume you are running rim brakes) with a different compound
  4. Are you sure its not Sidari? Went there a couple of years ago and basically, if we are talikng about the same place, the river is a treated sewage outlet into th sea. Loads of fish, shoals of around 2-300 fish are all over but I wouldn't like to get my hands wet in there. Youd have more fun with a telescopic rod, small waggler and a loaf of bread in the harbour.
  5. I find the plug and sleeve type to be better, there is less damage to line.
  6. When most of them cant speak English I think there are higher priorities.
  7. People use bikes for efficiency, nipping in and out of traffic is one of the perks of being mounted on two wheels.
  8. I cant see why everyone insists on blaming mountain bikers, I'm one myself and consider myself responsible and courtious to others.

    New Arrivals

They look fairly plain to be honest, more like golden orphe.
  10. I'd say the maintinence side first, then if your own machnine goes bang you'll know what to do once your web design business takes off.
  11. Its not unusual for Poles etc to take fish for the pot as its normal practice in their country. They just need educating thats all, either that or directing to the fish market.
  12. If you're up for speed fishing, 6m pole to hand will be a winner on most silver fish pools, assuming its a stocked commercial.
  13. Pierce it through the side and secure it with a wide blade of grass though the hair loop. Boilie stops will just pull through the skin.
  14. Thank god I live in the pennines and not the flat south.
  15. Feeder rods dont usually have a test curve rating, they normally come with graded tips, 1 2 and 3oz. Are you going to be using it for big fish work, or your average lake fishing?
  16. All bridleways are or should be open to bikes. As are B.O.A.T's (byway open to all traffic).
  17. Sorry I didnt see the part about taking 10 minuets to walk round, try loose fed castors in a small ammount of groundbait. I fish a smallish lodge about 100m x 50m which has a reasonable stock of bream and usually ball in 5 of 6 orange sized balls laced with castors and a few pinkies (bream love squatts though) and loose feed over the top. I fish a pole about 9 or 10m with a fairly heavy rig as the water is around 8-9 feet deep with a bilk or olivette 12 inches from the hook.
  18. Keep it simple, plain brown crumb possibly with a measure of black. Fish dont like feeding over bright patches. Mix in a tin of corn including the juice, but mix it a couple of hours before you intend to ball it in to moisten the crumb properly. Did you pre-bait the night before? most lakes are so big you need to get the fish in early and top up in the morning. Float fishing in 10-15' deep water is a no no, you would be battling with undertow and in my experience, bream prefer a stationary bait. That way you can top up with an open ended feeder.

    Cudmore

Thats not really a catch report though is it!
  20. As a mountain bike rider there is always abit of jesting between the two branches of the sport. I have nothing against the (except the fact the wear lycra) but 3 wide in a road is just plain silly.

    Cudmore

Now I know alot of people are against commercials, but I should be going in the middle of next week, any reports as to how its fishing. Cheers.
  22. I agree there are idiots about, but most riders are considerate towards other users. A cheery "excuse me" goes along way in my book. Fair enough bikes are not allowed on footpaths, but as I said, a lot of walkers dont know the difference. And 3 roadies riding abreast would annoy we as well.
  23. 1.Try the TT races. 2. Why should MTB'ers not be able to ride where we like, Scotland doesn't have a problem. The problem we have is the damn red sock brigade, half of whom don know the difference between a footpath and a B.O.A.T. The ammount of times I hear about bikers having branches thrust into their wheels is rediculous. Not to mention idiots who nail nails into logs on purpose built MTB courses in designated areas of forestry commision land.
  24. I haven't fished since about mid december 2003 due to work, house commitments etc so cleaned all the kit down and tidied my box out before putting it tidly away in the garage for the winter. At the weekend my wife and I were doing a spot of gardening and as I went into the garage I noticed a nasty smell. To cut it short I found mice nesting in my carryall. The little bleeders chewed through all the foam on my pole roller (£30), chewed through my groundbait mixing bowl (£10), chewed through the side of the caryall (£40) but that is salvagable until I can sort a new one out, chewed through an ESP towel (£6) and a pack of source boilies (£6). As of last night current death tally was rich 2 mice 0. Today after fining that I had put a mouse in the washer with the carryall its rich 3 mice 0. I got two traps today so we shall see what is waiting when I get home.
